VXDIAG VCX Nano OBDII Tool
Pros:* Everything included - scan tool, microUSB cable, software CD.* Tool looks and feels solid. Easily connects to OBDII port.* Instructional video is incredibly helpful, as are the additional download websites if your CD has corrupted or incomplete files.* Software functionality works exactly as promised; was able to reset the high voltage contactor positions in my EV and the DTCs triggered by the vehicle disabling protocol.Cons:* Software install was tricky. Strongly recommend watching the video, installing MDI Manager and Java before anything else, and downloading updated files EXCEPT the GDS2.exe file.* Make sure you don't move the location of GDS2.exe from Desktop (or another folder) if you want it to operate correctly; Tech2Win and VDX Manager won't find it otherwise.Other thoughts:* For $110, I was able to get a long-term diagnostics and software/hardware reset suite that saved a tow bill and stealership diagnostic hourly charges that would have exceeded $500.* Recommended for any knowledgeable owner who enjoys doing their own maintenance.

Very dissapointed
This is the second Nano I tried!! The first one had the wrong software and no instructions. I tried the instructions on line each wipe wiping my PC to fresh Windows install. I tried to get Tech Support. I was passed to 5 different people and all they said in the end is replacement or refund?? I just want it to work! The error was "Can't connect to CANdi device"?? No one could tell me anything!I told them REPLACEMENT. I received it quickly, BUT this one had an intermittent connection in the Nano connector AND of course, no instructions. I had to hold the wire a certain way to connect. I tried the cable from the first one. Same thing. If I could've gotten Tech Support, this wouldn't have happened!

It Really Works!
As stated by others, this device is obviously a little sketchy and requires some technical know-how.However, you will find no cheaper alternative compatible with Tech2Win. Rest assured, if you install it exactly as described below you will find success - in fact, I just completed an automatic ABS bleed today with my 2500HD!Disclaimer:As indicated by others, viruses and hidden SW may lurk in the required files. However, my own scan with Kapersky did not flag any. Regardless, it is recommended to perform a fresh OS install on spare/burner PC for three reasons:1) No personal files or info to worry about2) Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit is required. If you don't already have it, you will needto get it and perform a fresh install. There are many documented failures from attempting to useWindows 10, Win 7 64-bit, etc - proceed at your own risk.3) Lastly, if you think you can get away with running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit inside a Virtual Machine, think again - Tech2Win will crash while establishing vehicle connection (ask me how I know).Okay, on to the guide...1) Perform fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (x86).2) Install drivers on your machine and all that good stuff.3) Fully update windows via Windows Updates (skipping this step may result in cryptic "missing .dll"errors during install).4) Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 to avoid more .dll errors.5) From VXdiagshop.com, download the latest versions of the following (do NOT use the USB key):-VX Manager-VXDIAG GM GDS2-VXDIAG GM Tech2Win6) Unzip/extract as necessary. Inside the Tech2Win folder, run AutoInstall.exe.7) Inside the GDS2 folder, run AutoInstall.exe. Expect long wait times. Note that GDS2may not strictly be required for Tech2Win but I installed it anyways.8) Install VX Manager - select PassThru & GM.9) Plug in VCX Nano. Windows will automatically find and install the USB driver as long as step (8) hasbeen completed10) Launch VX Manager. VCX Nano should now be recognized. If not, unplug and re-plug back in, restartVX manager, restart the computer, etc. It will show up eventually. Note that an OBD connection is notrequired at this time.11) Go to Diagnostic tab at top. Double click "GM GDS2/T2W" and hit Install. Do the same to PassThru ifit doesn't already have a green checkmark.12) Plug in to your vehicle.13) Launch Tech2Win with VX Manager still open in the background. Tech2Win It should prompt you toselect your communication tool in a popup window - pick GM MDI (not MDI 2). It should then pauseand prompt you again, this time with one option - a string of numbers and "USB". If it does notprompt twice, close Tech2Win and try again.14) Hit OK at the second prompt. That's it - Tech2 emulation is running and you should be able tocommunicate with your vehicle.Who knew it could be so simple!? /s Jokes aside, I've had fairly good luck pulling data and performing special functions with this since I got it working. However, I have experienced sporadic disconnects, which may be due to my laptop's USB 3.0 ports. Might try a USB 2.0 expansion card in the future to see if that improves stability.Good luck to you - hope the guide was helpful.

It kinda works
I had to get a PC with Windows OS to use this. The Windows OS has so many bugs it’s almost unusable. I wish this diagnostic tool was compatible with a Linux operating system. The hardware seems sufficient. I use it to read and write changes to GM LS engine ECUs and after wasting time dealing with the trash Windows PC, this tool seems to do what I need it to do. If it was compatible with Linux, it would work 1000 times better.

Invaluable, but Fussy
The VXDIAG GM Tech II emulator is the cheapest way to a bi-directional scan tool for owners of 2013 and older GM OBD vehicles (if you already have a laptop computer). If you want to be able to diagnose rather than shotgunning parts and hoping, this is one way to go. This unit allows you to do things like operate solenoids, roll windows up and down, module relearn etc. It also does things like brake bleeding, and other chassis/brake functions. It can also reprogram modules if you purchase a license from GM.The fussy part is to get it to work. I am using a Windows 10 laptop. It took some time to find all of the software and get it installed (forums are your friend). Anti virus must be disabled to install software. This is something you use with an old laptop, not your good one for work. Once you get it running, (there are videos showing how to install software) be patient. It sometimes takes several attempts to get into an area, but once you do you can accomplish what you need to do. I always wanted a Tech II scan tool, and this would have saved me a lot of heartaches if available 20 years ago. If you have no idea how systems on cars work, this is probably not for you. It allows more in depth analysis of problems than a simple code reader. $129 vs $1000 and up. Invaluable, but fussy for someone who has the time to work with it.
