It's no secret that Korean grammar has a reputation of being the most difficult to grasp under the language learning spectrum. Although this book does not claim or intend to be a grammar textbook, what is so incredible about Shortcut to Korean is that it makes Korean grammar not seem so daunting afterall! I love how this book did not feel like your typical dry, mechanical "textbook". I am a beginner Korean language learner and I appreciate how much this book breaks down Korean sentence structure in such a simple and approachable way. Suddenly learning grammar doesn't seem so intimidating to me anymore. In fact I'm enjoying learning it because this book has presented learning it in such a well designed, easy to understand way! Everything is broken down for you in a way that is almost over simplified, which I believe is great because I've noticed that it gives me such a boost of confidence because I am finally understanding concepts in which I have struggled with in the past. Shortcut to Korean really does what it promises to do. It really does help make learning Korean easy and fun! I actually tried not to use the romanization that was provided because I've read somewhere that you do not want to get into the habit of relying on romanization, as it could possibly become a crutch. However, I still appreciated romanization being a part of this book simply for the few times where I struggled to pronounce a vocabulary word. Speaking of vocabulary, I absolutely loved that there is a great amount of it in this book and that it is also very relevent for everyday speaking. I've noticed that a lot of other Korean language books tend to be more heavily "grammar focused," and as a result do not provide alot of vocabulary whereas, with Shortcut to Korean, there is a wonderful balance of both! Also another big plus is that the expressions and phrases that are presented in this book, are ones that you would actually use in real life! I absolutely recommend this book! If you're on the fence about purchaisng it, get it!! You will not regret it! It has definitely helped make learning Korean less intimidating for me.

I loved the book, it was VERY easy to use. From the way, it is written in Korean, to how it is used in the sentence. I gave it 4 stars because when it shows how to pronounce it, it is very difficult to know how to actually say it unless you hear the word AND see the pronounciation. Otherwise, it is such a cool little way for newer Korean learners to learn the basics.

I am used to studying things online or apps like duolingo, but it's quite limiting as you don't learn by getting the whole thought process required to understand or speak the language.I felt that this is such a good resource book that doesn’t make grammar, the conjugations, or getting familiar with the words too complicated. I feel I was able to pick up grammatical structures and patterns easier with the method here. I like also that it lists out phrases in English, translated into Korean (both Hangul words & romanization pronunciation), and then breaks down the Korean back into English so you know what each part of the Korean sentence means.Would definitely recommend to those who want to learn Korean more. Plus, hey, it's not too expensive anyway for a language or culture you enjoy :)

The layout of this book is simple and easy to follow. The fact the the writer puts the phrase first then underneath is the break down of each word. There is a audio file that is available as well I highly recommend downloading that the voice is very pleasant and at a good speaking pace. I can't wait to be able to watch dramas without subtitles!

Overall great book but a bit difficult to read the small font. But this is just a personal opinion.

This book is well written with a simple, easy to follow layout. I especially appreciate the sentence structure breakdown. It helps me think through my responses as well as continue to expand vocabulary.

Love that the book is filled with common phrases, and vocabulary I would use. Very helpful with sentences structure. My new favorite study tool! Well worth the investment!

As a lover of k-pop & k-drama, I’ve always wanted to learn Korean but picking up a new language wasn’t something I’m normally comfortable with. Came across this book - so nice! It’s not your typical language textbook, but a phrasebook containing a lot of very useful everyday phrases a modern Korean would say.What I especially liked are how the phrases are broken down into its meaningful parts for immediate understanding without having to figure out grammar rules. Listening to the audio while following along in the paperback book is also super helpful & definitely doesn’t feel like studying!

Great breakdown of typical sentences used in a casual conversation. I was able to hold a conversation within minutes through the help of the book even with no background in Korean prior to reading this.

An absoutley amazing and essential book if you’re learning Korean!! It has allllll your need to know phrases!! It’s laid out in such an easy to understand way and the romanisation helps so much for learning how to pronounce! Better than most guides I’ve tried ☺️

It has everything I ever wanted in a language book, It is easy to follow along and I know I will learn a lot more vocabulary!
