I bought these to use in our deer camp to measure the diameter of the deers horns to calculate the total points and size .

Wow. I put these to use right away and really didn't think much about them until reality popped up to say, "Hello!" I had marked the center on a piece of wood to be laser etched using one of these tape measures, but when the piece came out, the image was trailing off the edge on one side--off-center! I went to double check the center with my ruler and as soon as I saw the total length I knew something was off: the tape measure had given a different value! As the photos show, the brass piece at the end was apparently improperly placed so it was giving readings of ~3 mm longer than actual. I removed the brass piece and found that the end had not been trimmed to the "0" mark. I did that, tossed the brass piece, and put it back on my work table.So: CHECK TO BE SURE THAT YOUR TAPES ARE PROPERLY ALIGNED AT THE ZERO MARK!!!!!
