Hydroplane Foamless Super-Slick Mens Shave Cream

Long time user of the Billy Jealousy Hydroplane shave cream. However, the new formula for Hydroplane shaving cream is not as good as the original formula. The new version has a flowery smell, has the consistency of lotion rather than a shaving cream, and now leaves me with razor burns/skin irritation when I shave with it. The customer service rep. at Billy Jealousy admitted that they changed the formula and that other customers have provided similar negative feedback on this new formula Hydroplane. I will not purchase, again, unless they go back to the old formula.

I have been using this stuff for years. Several years ago I went into a higher end beauty products retail location and asked if they had any Men's shaving products. The girl directed me to their men's section and pointed out the Billy Jealousy products and told me that it was the Esquire Magazines pick for the best shaving slick. I thought it was a little pricey, but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I wasn't disappointed! I use a Gillette Fusion razor and I shave my face and then keep on going right up to my head. I get a smooth close shave and I have never cut myself shaving while using this product. I don't know why, but I can literally take the razor and put it on my skin and rake it back and forth and it will not cut my skin (not the shaving technique I use, but I have tested the product this way. lol)Why is this product different from other shaving creams that foam up? Traditional foaming shaving creams give you an "OK" shaving experience, but most of the time it will require multiple passes to get the close shave we all want. The only problem is that after the first pass (and definitely after the second), the lubricant that the shaving cream provides is all gone and you are scraping your blade across bare moist skin. This can lead to shaving bumps and skin irritation. (not to mention cuts and nicks). The Billy Jealousy shaving product is more of a shaving "slick" than a shaving cream. It goes on smooth and stays on until you rinse it off. You can make multiple passes (if needed) and you will still have that lubricated feel. Your blade will literally glide across your skin and prevent those shaving bumps from appearing and like I said above, no cuts or nicks!If you shave your head, I highly recommend this product! Especially in combination with one of the Gillette Fusion razors. The vibrating blade glides right across your skin and takes any and all hair with it. Best shaving experience I have ever had!

I believe the only thing people have to get used to is the fact that it does not produce a huge amount of foam. In fact, there is not foam. However, it has provided the best protection BY FAR and I never get razor burns. I use a Schick three blade disposable and the shave are the best. I use to use a single blade, but I would not recommend it. The shaving cream allows you to go back over you face (I use it with and against the grain with no problem), but a single edge bale is not as forgiving (I used Feather blades, which are extremely sharp).I know it is expensive but you also use a LOT less, as you are not putting o a inch think layer on your face, as this is a creme. I use two nickel sized squirts in each palm for the left and right side of my face. I got the 8oz size for $20 to start with and it lasted me months.

I’ve been incredibly happy with this product. I shave both my head and face, and go through razors and shave cream quickly. This product not only leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth when compared to the usual solutions, but my razors have lasted roughly 50% longer than ever before. You don’t need much to lather up and so your bottle lasts a long time. One last note - those color strips, that are designed to fade to indicate time to replace blade, don’t prematurely fade on you as designed by manufacturers so they can sell you blades more often. You aren’t tossing your blades too early and thus saving money on blade purchases.

Partly due to having sensitive skin, I've tried a dozen different shaving creams from Proraso to your common Gillette shaving creams, each in different forms from shave bowls to gel to foam. This is by far the best shaving cream of all of them. What's interesting is it is the one that least resembles what you think of when you think shaving cream. It doesn't create foam or much lather, it almost seems like you're putting some sort of lotion on your face that doesn't absorb into your skin. The razor GLIDES effortlessly across your face and neck. I used to avoid shaving for consecutive days because I didn't want to irritate my skins and risk cutting it. With this shaving cream, I don't think twice about it. I'm not sure how I went this long without using it but I know I will be a customer for life!

It doesn't lather but this should not deter you from it's performance. This stuff is so slippery... razor blades easily glide across your face. If for some reason you need more protection, I recommend applying Billy Jealously first. Then apply a bit of Cremo Shave Cream. (I had a bit of left-over Cremo). Adding the two together thickens the mixture a little bit. I get a very close and smooth shave every time.

I had been buying the 8 oz BJHSSSC, but saw that this was way cheaper per oz. I really like this stuff! My skin tends toward razor burn and breakouts, but not since I started shaving with this shave cream. I use two pea-sized dabs to coat my cheeks and neck, and I was getting about a year from the 8 oz container, so I'm hoping for a multi-year use from this big 'un.

I have been using this for 5 years with my Panasonic ES-LV61. It is the perfect shaving cream for wet electric shaving especially in the shower.I have tried other creams, but always come back to Billy Jealousy. I rarely cut myself or get in-grown hairs with Billy Jelousy, this stuff is the best.I recommend getting a little empty travel bottle for when you go on business trips as you will be unhappy if you use the hotel's travel size barbasol.

Great product - rinses easy from razor so no clogging, and does not dry out skin.

Great shave gel in a big size
