Good book
This is an introduction to life in the Soviet Union right before andduring the war.The war on the Eastern Front involved millions of men on both sidesfrom many nationalities, including Russian, German, Finnish, Hungar-ian, Romanian, Italian, and Spanish, not to mention the many ethnicgroups that made up the Soviet Union. Tens of thousands of battlesraged from 1941 to 1945, most of them only remembered by historianswho specialized in the subject and the veterans of the battles themselves. However, a number of battles fought on the Eastern Front weremonumental and earth-shattering: the opening invasion of OperationBarbarossa, which the Germans executed with amazing speed,Leningrad, Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Operation Bagration, andBerlin.

This should be required reading.
This book should be required reading.Captivating History, in this book provides the history of The Soviet union and presents the facts, as well as interesting story's of people who were present during this incredible, shocking time of history. The book is quick to read, but as always, Captivating History gives you the facts and leaves you with more knowledge than you (most of us) had before we read it.Excellent book.

incredibly readable
This book is incredibly readable, every detail in it is fascinating. I'm really enjoying the format of Captivating History's multiple manuscript books, the first gives an overview of the history from beginning to end, and the latter books zoom in on key events and people. This book is outstanding - if it hadn't have gotten to 3am, I'd have continued reading from start to finish.

Interesting
An interesting book for an eagle's eye view of WW2 in the east. If you know nothing of the war on the Eastern front, this may be a good introduction.

So, glad this was written and shared.
I am anxious to read it. However, I read rather slowly and I have a hefty back-log on my kindle. I wanted to review because I think this subject matter is worth reviewing and at the Amazon price it is silly not to put it on one's to-read list. Especially in these wonky times.mm

A good overview of WWII/Soviet Union
This book provided insight into the Soviet Union and WWII. The affects of each on each other, the atrocities. I would recommend this book because many of the facts presented are rarely found public school textbooks.
