Love Packard Bell
I'm happy with this item! Got it at lighting deal! I think it has very good configuration for the price!Just perfect for everyday use ( even day&night continuously) ; does not heat over; touch pad fine.My only problem is that every angle of the touch pad does something: bringing on screen apps, switching tabs- but I know it can be set to a more simple use.Windows 8.1 - needs some time of practicing and getting used to it. But there is lot of help available for anything you want to do!The laptop is light weight though seems sturdy.Would prefer a matt case, not too keen on the shiny one-but is absolutely fine!Would definitely recommend this product! Might not be for gaming ( not sure) but for watching movies, browsing, office tools is fine & fast!

Two faulty machines
Got this for £199 in the Lightning deal. Delighted with it upon opening the box... not exactly a MacBook but lots of kit for the money. But on the first machine the Trackpad kept sticking... and the replacement machine intermittently froze altogether.Best bit was Amazon's service... took both back without question [within 30 days] and reminds me of why I buy this hi-tec gear from Amazon. I can only imagine other large retailers of computer gear saying: "Terribly sorry sir, you are stuck with it now and have to call the manufacturer's helpline..."The spec and price is irresistible.... so long as you are lucky to get one that works right.

Not good
I took pot luck and bought this as a lightning deal to replace my 8 year old Toshiba. To be fair it has a a fair spec for the price but as soon as I opened the box I felt the quality was not very good and it felt plasticky. When I turned the laptop on the touchpad required serious pressure to make it respond and only the right side of the pad appeared to work. I tried rebooting but nothing cured the fault so sent it back for a refund.

A decent Budget Laptop
This is a budget laptop from Packard Bell, it has quite alot more on offer with this laptop than meets the eye.Operating system:This Packard Bell comes with windows 8 64bit, it is good for always being updated on everything with the pannels on the start screen. for me windows 8 is windows 7 with newer software and and a new 'start screen', however it functions a completely different way it is quite hard coming from windows 7 and mac (which are both quite simple operating systems)and then jumping to windows 8. it is hard to get used to because basicly they have changed the general layout of the start menu COMPLETELY so there is no librarys on the start menu so you have to search it up on the search button.keyboard:the keyboard has short travel keys on it. it can be a little to 'soft to the touch' for me some times. the keys are spaced tightly together so there is no real distance between them, however one good thing is they are not clattery and very noisy like some keyboards on laptops they have a mild sound to them which dose not annoy you after tons of typing on word or other places. i would note you though it isn't the best keyboard ever.Trackpad:the track pad is very large, it is reasonably responsive. However the track pad is to the left of the laptop, which is arquard for people who are right handed, sometimes you have to type in arquard positions and can make typing uncomfortable. but if you are left handed, your in luck you shouldn't have to much trouble with using the track pad. But the main alternative for the tracking point of view is buy a external mouse and lock the track-pad :)Prosseser:The Packard Bell comes with a Amd Dual-Core E1-2500 which is not a power house processor neither are the other Amd e series processors. the Amd e1 had about the same offerings as a Intel celeron. so its ok but again not a power house processor. however it is more than nought for searching the web playing light games and watching movies/videos.General:the screen is nice and has good viewing angles. and there plenty of ports on the device including 3 usb ports and 1 hdmi and a VGA.Ok ill some this all up into a sentence:Its good for a budget laptop!

Cheap and mildly amusing
Our other lappy was growing a beard, micro$oft don't support xp anymore :-(,so time for an ' upgrade.Nice lightweight machine, cut price keyboard works, mouse pad more sensitive than a ticklish girly at a tickling competition. I swear to dog I can move that pointer by blinking my eyes.Windows 8, IE explorer 105, pre installed Norton' just sit and wait while I hog your processor' antivirus.Solution: xp shell : google chrome : panda cloud antiviral.Alls now good.
