Bright Light , Not Perfect
Gold Armour LED Camping Lantern 4 Pack, GrayI bought these lanterns to illuminate our house next time we lose electric power.I won't repeat all the fine reviews here, which I can verify are true. I had one question, which was not addressed. When the light is partially on, do you reduce battery drain? No! These lights are either on or off. Of course it is possible to have this feature but I would not like the price.I compared this light to a 40 and 60 watt equivalent LED 110 volt bulb. It appeared to be a little brighter than the 40 watt. These are 500 Lumens. One thing we can agree on, is looking directly into the light at close range will have you seeing stars. Color is white, estimate between 2800 and 3000 degrees K. Brightness and color are subjective topics, so your experience will probably be different. This set is supplied with AA batteries for each lantern. Some people complain about them being "cheap". Each lantern costs about five dollars. This is a high quality lantern, a steal for the price. I had the option of checking all of the lights with the included batteries. Then, I removed the batteries from the lanterns. I buy the 40 pack of AA batteries from Amazon. It does not break the bank. What's not perfect? I had an issue with one of the lanterns and contacted [email protected]. This information is included inside each lantern box. I described the issue and received a reply very quickly, as promised. The matter was resolved after a few email exchanges. I am now very pleased with the lanterns. Gold Armour customer service is outstanding. We do not live in a perfect world. When something is not up to my expectations, will the seller make it right? In this case - Yes! 5 stars for Gold Armour and 5 stars for this fine lantern set.

Very bright
I purchased these to put in my emergency kit for when we lose power since my kids like to steal my flashlights. I was pleasantly surprised when I received them in the mail. The first thing I noticed is that they come packaged in a box like you would find in a store. The box is printed in English and actually has professional design to it. When I opened it up, I was again surprised to see how well protected the lights were. The lights were kept separate from each other by a cardboard divider. They were also individually wrapped in bubble wrap which I thought was nice. These included AA batteries which was a plus for me as I wasn't aware batteries would be included. While plastic, the lights feel very well made.I put the batteries in and turned them all on. They all functioned properly and boy are these things bright. The use the COB LED light head which is very bright. I would say my only con with these is the brightness. While I appreciate how bright they are, being a lantern you will unintentionally end up looking directly at it at some point. I would like to see either a dimming feature or maybe a frosted dome to help diffuse the light. As it is, these lights need to be hung up out of line of sight. All in all I am glad I purchased these. I added them to my emergency supplies and I am pretty confident they will do good when the power goes out.

A must have for all Emergency Kits and Convenience
These lanterns are well made and a great price. There are other lanterns with more features but cost more so, I may wish for an adjustable switch High, Med, Low or a magnetic base or more lumens. Getting four lanterns at this great price is good enough for me. Batteries come with each lantern, 350 lumen, light turns on when raising the upper half and turns off by lowering to a closed position. Simple, effective and great price. I think I am going to get another set or two, of four lanterns for my RV, and more for the house. Too often during these scotching hot months, power is lost due to over loading the system, having the convenience of light that is very effective, reliable, and easy on the wallet, these should be in everyone's kit for those days / nights when things are not working. Those days are certain to happen and just a matter of how often and how long. Get yourself some great lanterns. I highly recommend these.

Super bright, do NOT look at it directly as you open or you'll see just how bright they are.
Two days after these arrived we took two of them on a road trip to the San Rafael Swell in Utah, USA. (I checked all for on arrival and found that they all work perfectly, we simply didn't need 4 lanterns for our trip.)It gets quite dark in the middle of 50 miles of dirt roads but these handled the situation perfectly, especially seeing as we had to set up our tent almost an hour past sunset and an hour prior to moonrise while around 100 miles away from the closest town.Operation is simple. Unscrew the base and insert tye provided AAA batteries into the unit. To turn it on, lift the metal handles away from the sides and pull the upper portion up from the base. This is the part where you should look away from instead of directly at the unit, or yours won't thank you. These units are incredibly bright but you can dim them by simply slipping the two halves closer to each other. This even works when the handles are suspended from a hook or line inside your tent allowing you to have it brighter or darker. The only thing I wish these were better at is being able to use them in a flashlight function, but it's not what they are designed to be and they do cast a great deal of light so I'm not faulting the units for my own whims. All in all, a worthwhile purchase for camping or home use in case of a power outage.
