what is the size of the opening?

Maybe half of an inch. They are very small. I was unable to use them for the intended project so I purchased a larger size.

Can you do all red and all yellow in bulk?

From what I saw when I ordered mine they are assorted colors.

Would these hold a cat hammock? I can't tell how much weight these might hold.

These wouldn't hold even a hammock for a kitten because they are tiny. You will need larger hooks for that. I would suggest the jumbo size heavy duty for a cat hammock. My cat weighs 12 pounds and if I were making a hammock for him that is what I would use.
