Comes with an OK edge, but I ground and sharpened mine better because I have a belt sander. Not the higher grade steel; if you want that you spend $35 - $55. I could afford better but really just wanted it for it's occasional utility.I'll save my premium dollars for things I must count on regularly. If I was constantly working in wooded areas I'd want a much tougher cutting edge. For me it is a keeper.

This axe is a Beast. Great Throwing axe. Just heavy enough so that it sticks with authority. Blade held it's edge after hours of non-stop throwing. I was a little hesitant at 1st with the rubberized handle but it was easy enough to get used to. Highly recommend for a beginner to mid level axe thrower or as a practice ax. extremely rugged & well worth the cost.

Bought 2. Very dull. Blunt in fact. A bit of work with a bench and hand grinder, file etc and you have a nice hatchet. The sheath is a piece of rubbery plastic on the blade. I made two leather sheaths to go on my belt. You could also hang it from an over the shoulder sling, or a pack.

The axe works great for cutting wood logs. It is also a good tool for outdoor activities. The quality is good.

Perfect for chopping kindling or even splitting smaller wood into pieces. So far so good.
