Q: will this work as a circuit breaker and pop off if the item plugged into it shorts?

No, this will not. However, most power strips with more than three outlets on them have a 15 amp circuit breaker. Having that circuit breaker saved me from $100,000 in fire damage once because the male plug on the strip melted, the circuit breaker cut the power (twice) before it could light the curtain draped on top of it on fire. If you need a circuit breaker for a single outlet this might be your best option. Many of these power strips also have surge protection, many have better surge protection than this single outlet surge protector has -- and the cost is only ten to twenty dollars more right here on Amazon.

Q: What is the wattage or amps capacity of this? Will it handle a laser printer that uses 1104 watts? I didn't see any power specs on the web page.

I just looked at my cyberpower and the back says it will handle 300 watts. I think you wouldn't want this item.

Joules number defines how much energy surge protector can theoretically absorb in a single event, without failure. Better protectors exceed peak ratings of 1000 joules and 40,000 amperes. So this (900 Joules>suppression)protector has a high rating, and yes a surge protector can be used on any electrical device. I have several surge protectors on different outlets, especially my TV and computer. There is also available surge protection for all outlets by way of the electrical panel that controls your home. Hope this helps.....it would be wise on any expensive electrical components.

not sure, doesn't make any noise (db) if you are talking about emf , it outputs about 3 micro tesla above norm when plugged in
