We have a duel fuel generator and got this to test the propane option. It worked well and we'll likely get a 100lb tank to keep as a backup for the generator. If the power is out for a while, getting gas may be an issue.

I bought this regulator and hose to supply propane to my 10 HP, 5.6 KW generator. Small internal combustion engines operate at about 10,000 BTU per HP. Most grill regulators and hoses are rated at 30,000 BTU, not enough to run my generator. This regulator and hose are rated for 90,000 BTU, and deliver enough propane to run my generator at full power.

This replacement hose was for a LP gas fire pit. The only difference is this one was a straight valve and not a "vertical" valve (aka: right angled), but it worked just fine. I originally was going to replace the defective pressure reducing valve, but when I looked at the price of the valve only, I discovered that for literally a few more dollars, I could have a brand new complete valve and hose assembly! Even after checking out a couple local home improvement stores that carry replacement LP gas parts, this hose and valve assembly was half the price of others that were half the length. I would recommend this brand because of their selection but more importantly, they are affordable!!
