It works but you’ll need to work on it first.
I had high expectations for this one because it had better reviews. I feel like I should’ve gotten the cheaper options because I’d still have to work on it. First, the case is great. Good workmanship. The tool itself feels good in your hands and is easy to use once you sharpen it. Prepare to spend some time with a file dressing it up. I did it in a bench vise. Took me about 45 minutes. Planning on doing a little more to fine tune it. It also came with a considerable amount of rust on it. I soaked it in a vinegar solution for a couple of hours then brushed it with a brass brush. After oiling it has held up. No more rust. Not sure how the edge will hold up the sharpening. Didn’t use a electric grinder because I didn’t want to heat it up and change the temper. It’s a fun toy as well as a useful tool. It’ll be in my saddle bags permanently.

Rust and leather issue
Received the settlers tool today and I almost tore the snap out of the thin leather trying to get it out. Then when I did it was covered in rust. Not the condition I should’ve received it in.

Not practical
Two hits with a common camp axe, scarred the metal. I used green wood and it was absolute hell getting the tool off the limb. I used a vice to get it off, not many of those in the "bushcraft". I used the drill on a dead pine trunk and green apple tree. I was only able to get about 1/2". Buy a good pocket knife. There may be better versions. Im not going to find out.

Fake leather case, not sharp
The auger was described as having a leather case. It was obvious upon arrival that the case was polyurethane imitation leather. The auger itself was sturdy, but was absolutely dull. The bevels were cut poorly and had large burrs. It took nearly an hour and half to flatten the bevels of the drill and remove the burrs. I would not recommend this product unless you have a leather case to fit it and know how to sharpen drills.
