Adorable book! Even just to have as a decorative item because the cover is so pretty. 100% recommended to any mermaid or sea lovers.

This isn't a story book it's a collection of myths and stories through out time and all over the world about mermaids. This book is awesome. I truly loved reading all the stories from around the world and will look forward to reading them with my daughter. The font in this book is blue which at first bothered my eyes but over time it worked out.This is just a wonderful book that personally helped me connect with the energy of the mermaids and understand mand of the stories and myths from around the world and see how they all tied together. The writing is well done, the images used are stunning and perfect and I love the quotes about mermaids from all kinds of sources. This is a very intro to these stories and myths, and it can open you up to researching more of these stories and questioning......what did they see at the sea what are these stories all around the world.

I bought each one of these in the series (except Wizards) and wound up giving them away… makes a great gift!

The delivery of this book arrived earlier than expected, which is a plus! This book is magical! Skye Alexander has done an outstanding job of the portrayals of mermaids, throughout their history and culture! Are these creatures of the sea real? This is a lovely little volume that provides a nice overview of mermaid folklore and legends that includes a good cross section of mermaid interpretations from the perspective of different cultures and belief systems as well as culturally different styles of storytelling about the creatures. Part 1 of this book gives a general summary on mermaid attributes, looks and behaviors.Part 2 of this book covers the different impressions of mermaids based upon geographic locations. As it turns out, mermaids have their origins in the ancient world and like their human counterparts, have various characteristics that correspond to their particular regions, based upon lore and belief systems. This section covers locations that include Australia, Africa, Europe and Britain, the South Seas and the Americas.This is not a comprehensive guide but it does give the reader a good education on merfolk of the world and their origins as well as their impact on modern culture.I am impressed by the book’s presentation. This is a small hardback book with a light sea green cover, gray artwork, and the title embossed in gold. The interior is composed of off white, recycled-type paper with teal green printed text and lovely illustrations.This is a quick, absorbing read that was very interesting and left me with the desire to learn more about these fascinating creatures.Recommend.

I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas and ended up reading half of it when I was supposed to be wrapping. It has a pretty cover and nice paper and printing. It has a nice mix of history, lore, and explanations of the history of mermaids. I can't wait for her to open it so that I can finish reading it:)

If you like learning about mermaids beyond what you think them to be, if you like to explore lore, then this book will be a pleasant read.
