works like it is advertised - easy to apply and cure
no instructions were sent with the sealer - having used such a product before i knew to heat cure before having a hot fire. you may like to attach instructions to the tube

Messy but seems to be the standard
This seems to be the recommendation of most direct fireplace manufacturers. It is messy and you will probably use more than you expect. There is not much documentation on how much of this to use, I used a fat bead with Duravent Pro ducting. Clean up with mineral spirits.

Great for removal high heat applications
I use for seal on wood pellet stove combustion blowers motor flange to housing. For easy removal for next service. 34 years of experienceMuch better and value than fiber gaskets that need to be replaced.

It does smoke and stinks indefinitely
As most have stated this product smokes horribly and stinks like you have burned grease. For starters there are no directions of any kind on how to apply it. I even went to their website but there's nothing there in the product sheet. After clipping the tip I tried to apply it with a caulking gun the product would not come out, I thought I had gotten a bad batch that was dry and I was ready to return it but then I looked inside the tip opening and it looked like the product was white. What I found out is that there is a white film inside which I had to break with a long wire.I applied the product to seal the top of my gas-burning heating stove, it was easy to apply, like black greasy playdough. I didn't need to use the stove for 6 days so I thought I would let it dry in order to avoid the smoke that others mentioned. Six days later it was still soft and "wet" like if it had just been applied. I fired the heater and the smoky mess started, the fire alarms went off and I had to open all windows. For the next three days I thought I would let it get cured while running the stove continuously. I had all windows open, the smell was horrible and after 3 days of doing that it never got any better. I though I would see some improvement but at this pace it would have taken weeks or maybe an indefinite amount of time for the stink to stop coming out. I measured the temperature of the surface (around 500 degrees) so this should not be the issue. I ended up removing the product which at that point was hard and dry and making a good seal but it was unbearable for indoor use. Maybe it's ok if it's for exterior use only but that's not how it's advertised.I ended up using Rutland cement (rated for 2000 degrees) which costs a third of the price and did not have any smell or smoke at all and came with clear directions. I wish I had not wasted my money for a product that didn't work at all.

Recommended for vent pipe
I couldn’t find a similar product at one of the big box home-improvement stores, so I ordered this. Mil pack was recommended in the gas fireplace. Insert instructions, so that’s what I went with.
