Susan Definitely left the best for the last of the series. You will not be disappointed.
Like many of Susan's readers I have been eagily awaiting the final installment of the Mountain Mercenaries series Defending Raven. Susan definitely left the best until last.We have seen Rex over the past 6 books helping women and children out of disgraceful situations with the help of his team and spending 10 years of his life trying to find his wife Raven. But thanks to the last mission he has a solid lead to her current whereabouts. Will Rex and his team find Raven and will she want to leave after 10 years of of abuse and neglect. Also what secret is she hiding from everyone she knows.Being the final in the series it is essential to read the other books in the series, but I really advise that you do as you will not regret it. However make sure you have plenty of tissues as you will need them. Finally I want to say thank you to Susan for another wonderful series of fantastic stories.

Thank you Susan Stoker for yet another brilliant, gripping story, can't wait for the next!
I have read the Mountain Mercenary Series and with baited breath hoped and prayed that Rex's story will live up to the other team members... I was definitely NOT disappointed!Raven has been to hell and back, barefoot carrying the weight of the world but she didn't give up. She is a role model for grit and determination. And David's speech... reflects everything needed in society. This book is a thrilling ride, an emotional roller coaster and a moral compass I hope most can live by. It was excellently written and adictive, I have work in the morning and felt compelled to review as soon as I finished at 1am lol

Wow Wow what a story
Dave is a man searching for the half of his soul. Now he has found his Raven he does not want to leave her behind no matter what she says, not in the pit of the Burrio of Lima, Peru. Raven has been found but does not want to leave, what is she hiding from Dave. Is it what she has experienced through the hell in ten years she was taken from Dave in Las Vegas city, she is a different woman from when she was taken. She doesn't want Dave to know why she needs to stay behind from fear of his rejection!Hearing Ravens experience from her capture, torchure and being put to work on sex trade she has endured a personal hell, in which she would not expect her Dave to accept. But Dave is strong enough to hear what Raven has been through and see that she had built a strength on survival, with a warrior mentality. Dave learns of her pregnancy and child she bore from rape, he accepts Ravens child as his own without question. Raven has given him the impetus to push ahead to get them out of the hell hole they are in Lima under del Rio control. I loved Dave attitude of standing and supporting his Raven to accept him again in her heart and mind, to show her he had not forgotten her in 10 years he had been searching for her. I felt the love that Dave still has for Raven and the acceptance of a child he had yet to meet, all because it was an innocent child born out of violence and control on another person, in which he knew his wife wanted, as he couldn't give her a child himself.Mountain Mercenaries are not focused on money or killing but saving women and children from captivity. Setting them free from oppressive, controlling men who prey on weaker.I loved that David his son met his father (Dave) and recognised him straight away when he went to rescue him. The bond was instant without fear from him, and having such faith in someone who is a stranger to him to have full trust, all because of how Raven spoke about Dave as he was growing in her care. The homeward journey back to the States was uneventful, but it was nice that their story was followed through to a 20year journey on how they faired in their life since return to USA from rescuing. The sex trafficking trade was very detailed in this storyline on how the women are treated and how the children they bore are also used by these despeciable traders. I was glad to read the happy ending of Dave and Ravens story, David grew up and learned truth about his life, and used his mother's story for his speech on graduation ceremony. Thank you Susan Stokes for the wonderful Mountain Mercenaries series, I thoroughly enjoyed each and every mountain man connection of finding/saving their mates from peril and gaining love in the process. I look forward to the new series of Silverstone Towing.

Fabulous ending to a brilliant series
Dave and mags is the final of the series.Mags has had an horrific life over the last 10 years she's been missing but cannot leave. Dave's long search is finally over but there's a surprise in store for him and the team. Fabulous book, as is the rest of the mercenaries series and ace security, can't wait for the next series to begin. Susan Stoker really drawers you into the stories and the awful environments that these victims end up in. Making you respect and admire the real people out there who are working tirelessly to save people all over the world who are suffering similar fates.

Out of the darkness, appears some light...
Ten years he has been looking, never giving up hope, and with the help of his team rescuing others along the way. That is one of the four thousand and sixty seven reasons you will love Dave.We have know him as Rex throughout this series, although we may have suspected Dave was more than a bartender on a few occasions! Here we get to see the terror, the torment and the suffering both Raven and Dave have been through and continue to go through as they ream embark on their most important mission yet.As with the rest of the Mountain Mercenaries, Dave is amazing with the care, compassion and unfaltering love he shows for 'his Raven'.This is the perfect finish to an amazing, although horrific at times, series. I cried numerous tears, tears for the trauma they suffered, tears for the terror they felt, tears of relief when he finally finds her, tears of joy as they finally return to the United States and tears of dismay when I realised this really is the end of this series! Available on Kindle Unlimited this is a series I will be reading again and again!
