Super nice and sleek. But unfortunately does not live up to the Weller name
When I first open the package it heated for approximately five minutes. After about 10 minutes it quit pushing air.Not sure if I got a defective part or not but this is definitely unbecoming of the Weller products that my grandpa used

Quality tool. You won't be disappointed. Weller is reputable.
Product is high quality. I would have like a variety of different size tips to have been added, however, this depends on the intended application. End-user rework often requires more variety.

Figure out the manual and watch videos on Youtube before attempting to use this... seriously
I figured I'm a grown man, I'm an automotive technician that can set up his own DSO without someone holding my hand. I can figure out tools without the manual... Oh hell no!Are you kidding me Weller? This tool is designed to blow hot air... you need to pick the temperature and how hard to blow right? WHY on earth did you make it this non intuitive to do something so simple? I ended up locking the tool and had to figure out a code to unlock. I could not get the levels to change for blower speed without referencing a Youtube video. Seriously? It doesn't appear to have any sensors that can tell when you set it down in it's mount. You have to push the button to activate it. There are menus to switch button functions when all it should need is simple up and down for the temp and up and down for the air. The rest is ridiculous. Fine, allow presets. But simplify the thing so I don't have to be using my reading glasses and a manual to make changes.Very nice looking display if you are angled correctly, otherwise that becomes unreadable. I'm sure if I use this daily for a specific function I can live with it but I want one for sporadic surface mount chip repairs and will probably forget how to make changes each time I go to use it.Not impressed for such a high end item in today's market. The cheap competition has this absolutely destroyed as far as interfaces with hot air rework stations that know when you set the handle down and pick it up and turn it up and down accordingly, with simple controls that you can handle while staring at the board you are working on... not the tool.Weller, you have a long illustrious history of quality tools... go look at what your competition is doing and rethink this.

Very high quality hot air rework station for the advanced novice or professional
First of all, let me state that. I'm an Electronics Tech. I hold a FCC first class radiotelephone license and work on marine and avionics equipment I do circuit board level repairs.15 years ago. All you needed was a soldering pen to do circuit board level repairs because most of the components were discreet Components and easy to work on.Nowadays, everything is surface mounted with high-density FPGAs So a hot air rework gun is absolutely essential. The reason I mention this is because there are several reviews from people who give this hot air rework gun a poor review. Obviously not understanding its purpose. This tool is not designed to replace a soldering pen. It is a very specific tool designed to work on very specific. Components. As such it's not fair to give it a poor review. When you don't understand the tools purpose.I own several. Hot air rework stations and was thrilled when they offered me this Weller. I currently have one from hakko as well as a cheap Chinese. $100 unit. That's absolutely worthless. This weather is definitely a tool to the professional or the advanced hobbyist. And very well worth the money. It's temperature accuracy is phenomenal and probably the best I've used.Comparing this Weller to the Cheap hundred dollar Chinese Imports is like comparing The Flintstones Mobile to an F1 race car.If you're an advanced hobbyist or professional who works on circuit board level repairs. I highly recommend this over any of the alternatives. It's only slightly more expensive than some of the other well-known brands. But the quality is definitely better like I said It's temperature accuracy Is the best I've used.Definitely a highly recommended A++ product from a leader in the industry.Be forewarned that if you're an aspiring novice new to this technology then you're probably going to need to read the manual. On the other hand If you're a technician. Who's accustomed to working with gear like this It will be second nature to you.

Great unit, but ridiculous Wand Cradle!
I bought this Weller right after I received a Quick 861DW. I sent the Quick back. Regardless of what others are saying, I love the Weller WTHAN1. Heats up super fast and I love the on/off button built into the wand. The only thing that puzzles me is the stupid cradle that holds the wand!! Who thought of this stupid cradle design. I still can not figure out how the cradle actually holds the wand!! Ridiculous considering the price one pays for a Weller. The Quick 861DW is total trash. ( take a look inside ) Really it is!! But the cradle for the Quick 861DW is amazing. If only we could have Quick make wand cradles for Weller ...
