Chef'nFreshForce Garlic Press

I do like this and it replaced a standard one that had begun to rust. The main issue I have with it is that it doesn't seem to give me as much garlic when I press as my old one. The old one I could clump the smashed bits back together and press a second time to get more from a clove but this one you really can't do that much. I feel like I'm throwing away more garlic this way, not much more but I noticed it. Garlic also tends to get stuck between the metal press with holes and the black arm that you squeeze. There's a line there where the 2 meet and I end up scraping garlic from it with my fingernail. I also wish it would open a bit wider to remove the garlic pieces from the press. It can be a little difficult to get at it since there is so little space. Overall it is a good press and I probably won't ever need to replace it (I just rinse it really well when I'm done using it and give it a quick swipe with a soapy sponge and let it dry so I think it might last forever) and I don't have to use nearly as much pressure to press the garlic so it does do what it should, I just have a few annoyances with it but they don't make me not use it!

This press easily handles large cloves of garlic. It is not a soft grip, but it is comfortable, and you don't have to squeeze hard to squish your garlic through the holes. It is not a giant-size press. It won't do elephant garlic, and if you're planning to use it to crush other foods, you'll need to cut them down to size first.It is sturdy, but not compact. To me, the performance overcomes storage issues. I can press a lot of garlic fast, even when my arthritis flares up. I love garlic, and don't mind the smell on my hands, but I don't like chopping it. The little pieces bounce around on the cutting board, and half of them stick to my fingers. So I prefer pressing. I never curse when I press garlic, only when I mince it.This replaced an old "self-cleaning" aluminum press that was just difficult to use. I'm more than satisfied with the performance of the gadget. I'd give it five stars if it came with a blunt pin cleaner, but I wouldn't buy one solely based on the desire to have the blunt pin cleaner. It is not difficult to clean. You just have to look carefully to make sure no garlic is stuck in it.

My last press just had seen too many years of use and wasn't cleaning up properly. I foolishly got one of those garlic "rocker" presses as a replacement and hated it. After one clove, any additional ones would slip and slide all over. And it took a lot of pressure to crush it.This was my answer to the rocker. It is a nice press. Sturdy. Seems to be well made. Large enough to grip well. And it works. It's easier to clean than my last one because of the way the press plate swings out. But it would still be nice to have a little 'poking' device that fit into all the holes. I use a stiff brush to clean it out and it works well.Would recommend.

I have used over a dozen garlic presses, and most of them proved to be inadequate: they broke, or were impossible to clean, or had design flaws which drastically reduced the amount of garlic which was extracted (as opposed to what gets stuck in the press). This product is one of the two which I like (the other one is a Chef'n press with a removable basket).On the plus side, the Chef'n are sturdy, the press fits properly into the basket, and the basket is sufficiently thin that the holes in the basket don't trap a lot of material. They are easy but not trivial to clean, but in any event are dishwasher safe so hand cleaning is less of an issue.The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the capacity of this model is a little low, compared to the Chef'n model with a removable basket. However, on the plus side, since this press has no removable parts, you don't have to worry about the basket getting lost.

This garlic press does not work well and is difficult to use and clean. I threw it away after several uses. Don’t waste your money!

You know you’re an adult when you resolve to buy a quality garlic press and spend time researching. I wasn’t willing to pay $45 and needed something better than the $8 cheap versions. I took a gamble on this model and have really liked it! There aren’t any chambers in the handles to trap water and the metal doesn’t corrode like aluminum. When you turn the handles all the way backwards, all the press pieces come apart to easily clean. It’s held up though several dishwasher cycles too.

Underwhelmed but gets the job done... kind of regret purchasing this. But on the flip side, I have their FreshForce potato ricer and love that. Garlic gets stuck in a fairly large opening between the perforated metal plate and the plastic molding (I have to use a steak knife to dig out the garlic, otherwise it'll make my utensil draw SMELL) and it is annoying!!

For some reason sub optimal garlic crushers really irritate me, more than other kitchen utensils, and I had hoped this one wouldn't. But after using it for a while I've had to concluded it really does.The design is great, the way the metal bit with the holes doesn't have sides and completely comes out *should* make it easy to clean, and the fact the way it applies force *should* give you lots of leverage.But the keyword is should. The first issue is it's not machined precise enough, and so bits of garlic get stuck between the metal and plastic, and while pressing you end up with garlic going up the sides rather than through the holes. The second is that it cheaped out and used plastic instead of metal, when you get to the last bit of garlic all the force just goes into bending the plastic rather than pushing the garlic through.Having a look around the "Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press" has a similar design but actually made out of metal, so it maybe I'll invest in that once this one annoys me enough. But at nearly £40 it's pretty steep for a garlic press, and at the end of the day this garlic press does crush most of the garlic reasonably well.

Bought for Christmas for my Grandparents who were finding it difficult to operate a standard garlic crusher. They are very pleased with this as they find the handle easy to grip and the gearing makes it much easier to operate. It also opens up for easier cleaning.

metal bits work great. Plastic cogs and handles have too much give so after 4 months not able to crush garlic cloves even when peeled
