Helpful for suffering
This book is a great first hand account of a Christian who understands the highs and lows of suffering and how to turn to God in our suffering.

Wonderful reminder of Gods grace in suffering
Excellent book for those with chronic illnesses or invisibile illnesses. A reminder of who God is and how that can play a roleI’m how we see our broken selves.

God speaks to the heart through Joni
I decided to write a review on this book because no one has yet and someone should let you know what a treasure it is. Although it has been years since I read it, this book has meant the most to me of all the books on my Christian bookshelves (except the Bible of course). Joni's experience of suffering paralysis after a tragic diving accident at age 17 has given her a unique perspective on suffering. It speaks to God's ability to see us through anything. I read it during a season of suffering, depression, anger and questioning. Joni speaks deep truths from the Lord that resonate within your spirit and help you to find peace in Christ. She helped me believe that God loves me and I learned to accept the difficult circumstances God was taking me through. Notice I said "through," Joni has been through the valleys, where there are no easy answers, and has come out victorious on the other side. One of the most beautiful aspects of Joni's book is how clearly her joy and hope shine through what could have been a life of darkness in her wheelchair.I encourage you to read it if you need this peace, hope and joy. I often give it to friends in troubled times.

Joni Eareckson Tara A Step Further
I enjoyed reading Joni’s understanding of healing. It seemed to go along with the Baptist view of healing that it was for the Apostles only and not for today. I wonder if she has changed her opinion of healing since writing this book. Healing is for today and God does still heal. The book has some excellent understanding of why and how God heals and is well worth reading even though I don’t agree with everything written.

Extremely inspirational and well written
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this very well written book. I bought 3 copies for friends who are going through difficult health struggles, with the hope it would be an inspiration. I took advantage of reading it prior to passing it on and I would recommend it for anyone who is facing difficulties especially pertaining to health matters.

Excellent Book
I'd read this a number of years ago. It's probably the best book on God's purposes of pain and suffering in a believer's life I've come across. It gets out of the realm of theory and brings it down to the practical nitty-gritty of everyday life. Bought a copy for a relative who is in the crucible.
