Pearlina Dolphins Necklace Cultured Pearl Oyster Set Silver-tone Plated Cage w/Stainless Steel Chain 18"

When I first saw this item online, I was a bit sceptical, cos I wasn't sure how much pearl I am going to get for that price. I couldn't see the scale of the can or the mollusc from the picture.But I needn't have worried.The mollusc came in a plastic container, about the size of a snack-size tuna spread tin. And since it is plastic and hence transparent around, so you can actually see the shell inside the container. (After making a wish, as instructed on the box), I pulled open the tab, and removed the mollusc from the 25% alcohol solution it was soaked in, it was a species that had a heart-shaped shell, which was nice. :) There was no smell coming from the shell, and opening the shell was relatively easy. My friend did suggest I use the tool that was given (that was really tiny, about the size of a toothpick!), use the tool like a letter opener, to slit open the sides, instead of trying to pry it open.My pearl was a teardrop shaped, black pearl, with shimmers of dark blue. It was beautiful! And it fit rather nicely into the dolphin cage, and the chain that came with it is a sturdy thickness, and should be able to hang the pendant.I am now wearing it as I type. Though I must give a sight warning, as this is 18k gold, I don't think the white gold will last for very long. I have been wearing it for about 2 weeks, and already the chain is losing the white gold colour, and starting to show the metal beneath. Also, the back of my dolphin pendant, where the cage side comes into contact with my skin, it is also showing the pink metal it was plated on.However, I think it still looked rather good, and I will keep wearing my pearl in my dolphin pendant, until the whole thing falls apart.I was thinking of giving them to my friends as gifts, but initially, I wasn't sure how it was going to be received, considering they would have to open a (now dead) creature to get the pearl out. I have now given two of these to my friends, and they have also sent me photos of them opening the shell for the pearls. And they all loved it. So I guess all my worries were unfound.I would recommend this to anyone who wants a special and unique gift. :)

I bought three Wish Pearl necklaces. Two were given as gifts to my daughter's teachers (one with a turtle cage and one with a rose cage) and this dolphin one was waiting for my daughter under the Christmas tree. They are GORGEOUS. The teachers loved them. I bought the kissing dolphin necklace for my daughter. My daughter is 11 years old. This makes a wonderful gift. She absolutely loves it. The pearl is beautiful, she loves dolphins and the dolphins were in good shape and the cage holds the pearl securely. She had so much fun making her wish and opening it. :)Two things to warn you about (minor things): 1. There is a smell to the water (of course, you probably figured that since you are opening an actual oyster) and it is packed in water; and, 2. The little plastic tool they give you to help you pry open the oyster broke. No biggie, we just got a butter knife from the kitchen and used that. ;)For the price, the presentation of the box is GREAT and it comes with a little booklet explaining the legend behind it with a color chart so you can determine what the color of the pearl you receive means (according to the legend). This is a really fun gift to give and to receive. In fact, I'm going to buy one for myself.Well worth the price of this product. Also, how can you go wrong with a genuine pearl as a gift? ;) As you have probably figured out, for that price, the chain is not gold, etc. That's okay, just take a nicer chain to loop through it if the gift is for an adult. If the gift is for a young girl, then everything in the package is perfect. ;)I have only purchased the turtle cage, rose cage and dolphin cage styles. Some of the other designs look good but some look ugly. So, zoom in on the photos. You don't want the cage over-powering the pearl and you want the cage design to be nice. I highly recommend the turtle, dolphin and rose shapes. :)

The pearl is a little small, but that is so that it fits in the little necklace cage. I bought this for my mom for Mother's Day, shuffled it around the house so she wouldn't discover it, and then brought it through airport customs right behind her to bring it to my sisters so we could give it to her together. So it will pass airport customs if you were worried! The pearl color is a mystery until you open the clam, which is a little bit difficult if you don't have experience (yeah it took me a few minutes..), but I suggest cutting the muscles in the back. The mystery was cool though, and all of the colors mean something else like wealth or health or happiness, which is really sweet. The necklace is very good quality (my mom is still wearing it), and just the right length for a usual blouse neckline. The clasp is pretty easy to open and close, so putting on the necklace isn't difficult. I highly recommend this, whether its a gift or just another piece for you jewelry collection, it makes for a great conversation starter and is an excellent necklace!

I really like this pendant and it was a great experience opening the shell! We received the wrong pendant 😬😡Ordered the dolphin and received a paw print. We were logged in to an online party so we just had to go with it, however I am VERY disappointed that my daughter did not get the dolphin she had wanted ! Will have to contact the company for a replacement.Edit: 5 stars! The company is sending the correct pendant -- no problems, very cooperative! Will be purchasing more. We love them!
