The story itself is pretty well thought out and engaging but there's one glaring issue that keeps the review down at 4 stars. I don't know if it's just an issue with the kindle version, but more often than not the main characters names are swapped. I.e. you know one person is doing something and interacting with another character, but a few lines down a different character's name is written where you know the first character should be mentioned. It's easy enough to read between the lines and figure out who's supposed to be there, but it is a little irritating.

I Enjoyed This Book
This book is pretty well written for the genre, but in the interest of full disclosure, I am an avid fan of the Ghost Recon games. The book has plenty of action and good pacing, with a smattering of character development thrown in. Enjoyable read.

Clancy By Dansky in Dark Waters Warrants A Read
This book was a really fun read! I’ve been a Tom Clancy fan since 1986, and I’ve loved playing all of the Tom Clancy video games over the past 19 years. By chance, I had not read any of the Ghost Recon series of Tom Clancy Universe books until recently. It’s indescribable how amazing it was to read about Scott Mitchell in the first book, and then pick up this latest book only to see that he’s still around! There are three key elements to any Tom Clancy Universe book or game: the story needs to connect with other stories in that universe, it needs to highlight the latest in military technology, and it needs to be timely. This book does all three in spades. It reaches out and pulls in characters and events from other books and games (loved the throwback to H.A.W.X. by the way!). It highlights a lot of modern military technology (particularly the heads up networked displays and sensors that make Ghost teams special). It’s also very timely by paying attention to modern events like the plight of Yhazdi, the ISIS/ISIL 2011-present wars, narco-trafficking mixing with governments, and the collapse of governments where there is no surviving continuity of government authority (as in Venezuela today). This isn’t high and mighty epic, American Literature, but I don’t think it was meant to be that. I think it was meant to entertain, to support a new video game release, and to carry on an important legacy in the Tom Clancy Universe (95 books now?). Short version: I really liked the book and highly recommend it. Well done Mr. Dansky.P.S. There are times readers really wanna slap Holt. Funny, true, and proof of effective character development. Man that was a fun one. :D

Good read brought down by poor editing.
The book is a good read if you are Ghost Recon fan. It fleshes out the unit very well. Not quite on the level of the first two but a good read overall. The editing is pretty poor however. Several instances throughout the book apply dialogue to the wrong character and characters are incorrectly named during action sequences. Example: Character A has lines when on the previous pages, said character is not even in the same area let alone the same scene. Happens frequently throughout.

Nice prologue to the Wildlands game
Good story that provides excellent context to some of the events and characters in Ghost Recon: Wildlands. There were some painfully obvious typographic errors and some confusion on characters and events in a couple of places, but overall I enjoyed it.

Love the story
Love the story! Action packed and intense, characters are interesting, interlude chapters are very nice additions, plot twists just about right. I like that this team was assembled in a real rush and somehow the leader is the one with the biggest issue. I also like the connection with the game at the end, but it kind of conflict with some scripts in game, which is fine since that prequel film "war within cartel "conflicts with the game as well. I bought the book mainly because I was curious about the operators in the game and I think the book meets my expectation. And I hope the game can have a camouflage option for the whole team...Also I want to point out that there are a few typos (I don't know if this is going to be of any use but still), like use the wrong characters' name etc... Please extend this series!
This book was one of my favorite Tom Clancey novels, which I've been reading since I was a kid. Pretty sure I was like, 12 when I plowed my way through the 700+ page Rainbow Six. But I was really excited to pick this up when I saw that the names and characters were in the same storyline as the GR Wildlands game, which I also love. Flew through the book in 2 days, and I'm soooooo upset that there aren't any more left to read. Hoping they write a few that pick up after the games storyline with Santa Blanca and keep these characters going.

Good book, came in bad condition.
Loving the book so far. Delivered earlier than expected. The condition of the book looked a bit damaged or used a lot (public library). Will order another book later but hope it’s condition will be flawless.
