Is it normal that the green light was on just for few hours but the is not there anymore? I cannot tell if it's working or not

Mine stays on all the time. If it's not warm to the touch and the light is off it's probably not working.

I just received mine and it’s making a smell like a hot glue gun. It’s very strong. Is this supposed to happen or is this on defective?
