It is made out of paper, so is fairly delicate. The inside wooden parts aren’t finished very smoothly, so you’ll want to be careful to avoid slivers. In addition, it is rather stiff to open. It is also quite small. I’d say it’s more “child sized.” But, with how delicate it is, I wouldn’t give it to a child. Fortunately, it’s also not supposed to keep off rain, so the smaller size isn’t really an issue. Just something to be aware of. The artwork is stunning and this would make a nice decoration or a gift for someone with an interest in Japan. But, do get out a measuring tape so that you have an idea of the size before you buy this.
