Things I Should Have Said

She literally puts her life out there.
So, I have always been a fan of the youngest spears. Was I skeptical when all the stuff came out about Jamie Lynn Vs Britney? Oh yes! At one point I unfollowed her. But then again I was never a Britney fan so none of it really mattered to me….Recently, with Zoey 102 coming soon, I decided it was worth the investment. It’s not really fair to take sides and believe claims, and I was curious about what Jamie Lynne had to say in her memoir based upon the ridiculous press she was getting. I can assure this rarely has to do with Britney. I don’t think she’s painting her sister in any parts of the book to be a bad girl or even misunderstood for that matter. She seemed to genuinely love her and unfortunately alongside suffered more family trauma than I could even process from reading. The almost loss of her daughter, that was so devastating but brave of her to open up about. I don’t understand how people (who don’t even know her) can be so mean and say such evil things to someone who’s endured so much trauma, one of which includes her daughter nearly dying.Reading about her personal faith journey was another favorite. I always knew she was open about practicing but I felt her devotion was a growing journey through this book. One of my personal favorites in this was hearing more about her music life. I remember she had a short-tan documentary on tlc about her career take on country music, but I could sense a real passion in this book.Personally I think this book is worth reading. Speaking from personal and relatable experiences, time heals. And you can’t just judge a person without knowing them.

Pros and Cons
I haven’t read the other reviews so not sure if any of this is repeating anyone else’s. Also, I still have another couple chapters so some of this may be premature, but it’s taking me awhile to get through. However, I wanted to get this out before my thoughts move on…Pros: *The rumors about the book’s contents were highly exaggerated. She actually doesn’t talk much trash on Britney, she actually speaks pretty highly of her and you can tell she cares for her deeply, as well as her other family members, even ones that have somewhat done her wrong. *This is the story of HER life up to now (not her sister’s), as it should be, and everything to her own recollection and I felt she was being very honest. *It’s pretty well written and she comes across very mature with a good understanding of things. *She did a chapter on the negative aspects of fame, which I’ve never read in any celebrity’s memoir before (or at least not in the same way) and it was refreshing, I respect that. *She also talked about her faith and some other things that were important to her that some people may say boo to, but I respect that as well, it’s brave. *I also like that the book basically goes in chronological order of her life and doesn’t jump around too much - *the first few chapters gave a lot of details about the shows she was on as a kid which I could see being a good read for anyone that watched those and was a fan. (I’m a little older and never saw those so I wasn’t as intrigued, but I’d still put it under the pro category for others.)Cons: *It’s taking me awhile to read because it doesn’t really hold my attention. *I don’t know why she changed her first baby’s daddy’s name when his name is and always has been out there already since the beginning of her pregnancy announcement. It was kind of weird to read when you already know. *I think she could have made teen pregnancy sound a little scarier for the younger readers. I understand she doesn’t regret getting pregnant with her baby (of course!) but she also wasn’t a typical teen and was very lucky to have money, be able to move out and take care of the baby all on her own and not really have to worry about work or school at the time, which almost no other teen would have those luxuries. And I mean, good for her, she and the baby turned out very well, I’m just saying I hope it doesn’t influence anyone in the wrong direction. *She repeats things A LOT. Sometimes in different chapters, sometimes the same chapter, sometimes the same paragraph. It was like, how can I take this sentence and say it 5 different ways? I mean, several of the paragraphs she could have started with: “Just in case you missed my thoughts on this…” *Lastly, she used odd choices for the photos in the book. I understand she didn’t even need to share any photos if she didn’t want to, so I appreciate seeing some, but other than a few cliche ones that made sense, she used some really random ones. The entire last page of photos were random group family photos where she’s wearing dark sunglasses and is the only one wearing sunglasses, which just makes her look out of place. Just saying if it was me I would have put some epic photos, more variety and ones that had to do with more stuff talked about in the book, especially knowing it’s your book that you will probably flip through for the rest of your life and pass down as a legacy. Maybe I’m the only one that cares about that though haha!Overall, the pros and cons don’t weigh each other out and it’s just been so-so for me. I don’t regret reading it but I wouldn’t read it again. I feel like it could have been a little shorter. I’d recommend it to someone that’s a fan, I just never saw anything she’s done (other than the beginning of Crossroads which was never mentioned) or heard or even knew she had music. I was only curious about her life and family drama, as I’m sure many are.

Great read !
This book is a great read! Jamie Lynn shares details of growing up in the spotlight as a Spears child, to becoming a teenage mom, to adulthood, struggles with mental health, finding love, and balancing work and family. I love autobiographies and applaud anyone who is able to put their life details out for everyone to view. I also think everyone has the right to tell their own life story. I must say, THIS BOOK IS NOT ABOUT BRITNEY, read that again. Iv always been a fan and have seen so many negative reviews, but chose to read for myself and make a decision. Britney’s name is mentioned in the book, but only in a way they she has affected Jamie Lynn’s life. Jamie Lynn boast love and admiration for her older sister who, in her words, has always been like a second mother to her. There is an almost 10 year age difference. My favorite chapter is about Jamie Lynn’s daughter, Maddie’s, miraculous recovery from an almost fatal accident. Jamie Lynn has an intriguing story to tell and beautiful testimony. I think anyone who is a mom, wife, sister, daughter, or has one can relate to some part of her story get something from reading about her life.

Poor writing.

Simply put
I don’t know why some gave harsh criticism of her biography. It was meaningful, heartfelt and her truth. Worth a read.

Good read
Anyone who has experience with someone in their family/life who is difficult and either creates a lot of drama/attention or more so reacts to it negatively or badly which leads to them making terrible decisions understands that for the most part it's everyone else's fault. Jamie Lynn has her side of the story as does everyone else involved in the whole drama. When it comes down to it Jamie Lynn was living her life as a teenager at the time you can not hate on her for that, she was a child. Britney clearly dealt with everything at the time wrong, a mixture of her growing up in the public eye, paparazzi, relationship issues and being a mom ect.... Britney needed help everyone could clearly see, even I stopped following her as I knew she wasn't someone I looked up to anymore.. The truth is celebrities are admired and looked up to in children's eyes and people who think differently are delusional. It's understandable to an extent that Britney lost it and at the end of the day she needed help and the people who were supposed to help took advantage. Maybe as an adult jamie Lynn could have done more which she says herself, we all can relate to that but to shame her like she's the devil is just ridiculous. Ultimately Britney was in this position in the first place as a consequence of all the years previous behaviors. If you put an unstable person in a bad situation what do you think would happen? ... You can clearly see from footage Britney loved her family and they love her. Jamie Lynn has her story to tell in which she speaks about her love for her sister and family even though they aren't perfect. Jamie lynn didn't bad mouth anyone but was honest to her emotions and accounts. The truth, the parents delt with the situation all wrong.

Poorly written
The book is poorly written - lacks structure and dive deep. The author only touches some issues without discussing them deeply. Only the chapter about Maddie’s accident and response to Britney’s claims - one of the last - met my expectations as author’s emotions (the bio subjective part) was visible

Good easy read
It was an easy read and wasn’t focussed on Britney which is what you assume it would be. I learnt a lot about her and realise they had a hard childhood so she’s made a good life for herself. Great condition book and fast international Shipping.
