Great quality at a great price
Really helpful product, has allowed me to take much more care when repairing smaller items, magnification is good and so is the picture quality, the settings can be fiddly until you work them out but all in all a great purchase.

Almost a 5 star - but don't be put off - read my full review.
My intended use is to allow soldering small SMT components to printed circuit boards. In my opinion this product represents good value, the reasons I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars are:1) A defect in the firmware where the "LCD Brightness" menu option doesn't allow you to change the brightness but goes to the Auto power off settings by mistake. However the default brightness, which is therefore your only choice is perfectly ok.2) The flimsy feel to the buttons - time will tell as to their durability.3) Poor user manual.4) The clamp arrangement for the pillar tilt adjustment could be changed - the existing arrangement is certainly secure but you need a 12mm spanner to loosen and tighten the clamp bolt, which is not included.Plus points:1) A separate focus control allows you to move the lens/light assembly right to the top of its travel while still being able to focus on the workpiece, allowing plenty of space for soldering PCBs or using other tools. Obviously magnification is less with the lens far above the table but is still perfectly good enough for my application, in fact in my application the magnification is too great with not enough of the workpiece visible at once with the lens low down.2) The lens is a reasonable distance forward of the support pillar, allowing for reasonably sized objects to be manouvered so the point of interest is below the lens.3) The tiltable support pillar allowing for even larger objects (at the expense of the image not being viewed absolutely vertically).4) The clamp ring arrangement for the lens/display assembly (with two thumbscrews) can allow you to gain a further inch of vertical clearance by clamping just above the ring light rather than letting the assembly go all the way down into it.5) The ring light rather than lamps on arms avoids excessive shadows, though some may prefer the option to change lighting angle, however for my application of soldering SMT components the lighting is ideal and the lack of lamp arms improves access to the work area.Overall:The pros definitely outweigh the cons and assuming reliability is not an issue I am sure I am going to be pretty happy with it. If you get one and start testing it with the screen protector still in place don't worry about a "S45" in red on the display - it is printed on the screen protector.

Ease of use
Very easy to use and screen is excellent. The zoom function is very useful. The only slight issue reach on horizontal bracket so can’t bridge across pcb holder(sliding one that rotates) but have made bracket to mount without baseplate onto pcb holder which sort of works.

Good, but 1280x720
Conclusion first... this is worth the GBP75... the same thing is GBP250 from other amazon sellers. It has the necessary features and is useful. The product description avoids telling you the specifics you need to know to judge it though.- you can not only move the sensor vertically (the side wheel) but focus it (the front wheel under the screen). You can have the sensor come in at an angle too, not necessarily straight down. So it's quite flexible, you can focus it at different zooms and come in via some nook or cranny on the thing you are looking at..- The depth of field is good, you can pick what will be in focus and blur out the rest.- the "1200x" max zoom is actually only useful for SMT soldering work, which is OK because that's why I want it. You won't be seeing any bacteria with it.- closest it can get to the bottom plate is about 1 inch, that's OK if you will solder under it- you can change the brightness of the illumination using a side wheel (like a cheap transistor radio volume control) on the right behind the screen- When it starts it offers a menu you must choose from to set its mode, Mass Storage, PC webcam or Record to SD, the mode is sticky until it is depowered- you can use it as a USB2 "webcam", although I had to use a different micro USB-B cable to get it to work, the provided one seems too cheap. It's coming in MJPEG over USB2.- although It puts the small text "1080p" on the screen, claims it is "12MP" it is a deception, 1280x720 is the max resolution it offers. It's good enough for my purposes and probably yours, I don't know why they feel they have to lie about it.- it's a cheap colour sensor with a somewhat variable frame rate, the LCD is some cheap thing, but it's all OK for my purposes- plastic buttons are a bit cheap and tacky, the bottom plate and height track are solid enough though- it comes with an allegedly 32GB micro SD with literally no name on it.Anyway the same thing is for sale at 3x the price and this works quite well within its actual (as opposed to the rubbish on the product description) constraints. I would recommend it as a good deal if what it actually is, is what you need.

It didn't last
I am not sure when it stopped working. I used it 3 or 4 times, but when I needed it months later the screen had no image, just lines.

It's was exactly as ordered and the zoom rate and machine working are outstanding
The zoom. The brushed chrome. The overall workmanship is outstandingThe screen.

You get what you pay for, better than others
Works ok, a bit flimsy and moves about a bit also the zoom isn’t great for soldering as it’s kind of in the way for micro repairs but in general it works ok and if you can solder from side angles you’ll get around the issue. Otherwise I’d recommend a better model. I’m keeping mine and have found it usefulImage quality certainly isn’t HD but I’m sure you already know that from the price.
