PRO-Keds Royal Hi Unisex Sneakers

Love’em! Better than Chucks. Bought 4 pairs!

Like reuniting with an old friend, wore these high tops in black and the low cut skater blue ones as a kid growing up in the 70s in grade school, same comfortable fit and style when I was a kid. I got wide fit and they fit and feel even better than my Chucks which I love as well. So glad ordered these they are thicker and have a better sole than Chucks being mfg now.

Absolutely the BEST deal, yet on Amazon. You only the super cheap sale price on my EXACT size! The other sizes were TWICE as much; I could NOT say no!!! Way more comfy than Chuck's. I haven't worn Keds since I was age 7 or so. These are cozy and surprisingly well made. Good job, Amazon!!!

Overall I really like these sneakers. They are, for lack of a better word, very "sneakery": old-skool in style, nice accents in red and navy blue on the rubber, nice top cap, and just very retro, rubbery, and simply stylish. The toe box is a bit wider than current Converse hi-tops are being made but the length seems a bit short for the sizing. A 12 was too big for me, an 11.5 ok but sometimes feels a little tight. A bit wide in the ankle for me too but my ankles are narrow for a guy.

So I bought a pair of what I know now are an older version of Pro-Keds Royal Hi Classics. I can tell because the sizing and model number was stamped on the inside of canvas instead of on tongue. Those were listed as an 11 but I just felt like they were a tiny bit too narrow (barely) and fit more like 10.5. I wear 10.5 Converse but the vintage Pro-Keds was clearly measuring differently back in the day. I tried a modern day size 11.5 of the current Pro-Keds here on Amazon, thinking the same sizing was being used from vintage pair, but ended up being too large and long (duh). Exchanged for a size 11 and they now fit PERFECT. And when I compared the vintage size 11 to a modern 11, vintage WAS definitely narrower and slightly shorter. Good to know I wasn't crazy and these remakes are better fit than the originals. Just have to break them in. Awesome sneakers!

Leve my keds...

Pros -True to fit. I've been a Chuck Taylor buyer all my life. Always had problems because my feet are wide. I'm a US size 8 and Pro-Keds size 8 fitted like a glove from the first time, like made for me. Didn't even have to break them in. The toebox is wider as well. -They seem better constructed and the material feels of higher quality than the regular Chucks. Relative cons -The outsole is a little thicker so for some it will look a bit kid-ish, but after so having so many Chucks where the outsole broke or tore apart from the sole, I think it goes both ways. -The rubber isn't compeltely white but slightly beige, like vintage rubber soles. This could be a con for those who like a smoother look, but on the other hand Chucks' rubber is so white that they look toy-like.

Timeless, comfortable, great fit, great quality, and doesn't cost a fortune. What more do you need?

I liked that the pro keds royal hi fit better than converses I've owned. The toe box is a bit wider. The shoe overall fits better than my cons and the pro keds seem to be a better constructed sneaker. Overall the fit feel and look of the pro keds has convinced me to buy a couple more pairs of assorted Pro Keds. Great price, quick delivery. Wish I'd discovered this show sooner. Happy customer!

Well I will start off with the good. These shoes are comfortable ( more so then cons to be honest). They fit just a little wider . Much more comfortable then the ones I had in the 90s. Now for the bad. Unfortunately the ones I got were fine. But after only 5 days of light use the glue is already starting to separate from the sole on the right shoe. I have emailed the company and will give an update my review . But so far these shoes are not really built very well on the bottom. It's a shame as they are comfortable.

Very comfortable just like the old days.
