House of Cards
I downloaded the eBook version of Flynn's book after learning it was a staple with Canada's parliamentarians. I was particularly interested in a small section written about Heckling in the book. But more importantly I discovered as a reference while recently reading Loat and MacMillan's TRAGEDY IN THE COMMONS - a new book about Canada's failing democracy. How to Be an MP is highly readable and entertaining...required reading if you're watching the British version of House of Cards.Flynn applies plenty of humour with his experience as a well-known Labour MP.Reading this book gives you a 'fly on the wall' look at behaviour in the House.

More a specialist manual than a good read
Achieved the near impossible: it managed to be rather a boring book on life as an MP. I gave up after 100 pages or so. It was a pity, because it started well and promised much, but in the end the expected anecdotes did not materialize or were rather too familiar. What really troubled me, though, was that at the point I gave up I had become rather irritated by the approach of the author, who seemed just a bit tooo immersed in and fond of the Westminster bubble. It may appeal to those who really do want a manual on how to be an MP, as opposed to the general reader.

Good Read
It's good read, and amusing in places. Some interesting facts about life and the workings in the house. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a book with a difference.

Five Stars
Paul Flynn is witty, sharp, and refreshingly honest and informative about the ins and outs of parliament.
