It’s astonishing that Rick Strassman was able to distill so much valuable information into such a concise, easily readable handbook. Summarizing the history of psychedelic drugs, and the scientific research done on them (from an insider perspective), The Psychedelic Handbook brilliantly explains the potential, the risks, and the practical considerations for using psychedelic drugs, and although Strassman presents this information from a neutral position, he doesn’t sacrifice a perspective that acknowledges the wonder and amazement of what psychedelic drugs can do. Initially, I mistakenly thought that this book was just a beginner’s guide, and while it certainly serves that function par excellence, it’s also a real pleasure to read, even if you’re an expert on psychedelics— as Strassman has condensed so much complex information into such simple and basic descriptions that it shines with beauty, and you’re bound to learn something new. Masterfully done; this book will certainly help many people and I couldn’t recommend it more highly.(Oh, and I loved how the cover of the book cleverly dovetailed with the cover of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go!)

I bought this book before Dr. Rick came onto my podcast “The Curiosity Chamber”, and I must say this book is direct and to the point. Everything you must know about psychedelics is now available at the tip of your fingers. Masterful overview of the subject. Greatly needed for helping with lowering the barrier of access. The typography and physical book are well designed, neatly organized, easy on eyes, feels good in hands.

Dr. Strassman’s research with DMT in the late 1990’s broke the 30+ year prohibition on psychedelic research in humans which sparked an entire movement of physicians, scientists, and drug developers to re-awaken the field of psychedelic medicine as we know it today.

It describes and instructs fairly well. No ritualistic nonsense.

I liked and disliked the depth of the topics, as some were really interesting to dig in, it takes a really long part of the book to reach the parts that the book is aiming to dig into.I suggest it to everyone who would like to approach to psychedelics in a guided fashion instead of the party abuse part.I suggest it to everyone is cares enough to have a proper journey and likes to follow rules of behaviour and needs a work of advice for the first experience.

As the times are changing regarding the ‘taboo’ on psychedelics; more information is coming out on the benefits of use for therapy, PTSD and all things related to natural treatments of mental health. Classic psychedelics have been around for many thousands of years all over the world within great civilizations; past ancient civilizations knew more than modern day society on the mysteries and spiritual development. Rick Strassman has shown throughout the book what has been covered up and suppressed by mainstream media and governments; the potential cure to the human mind and the re-introduction of generating a peace loving and just society; to the next golden age of our civilization.

In my opinion, this is the ultimate psychedelic handbook at this moment. It is an exhaustive and current work, which puts on the table the myths and truths about the most known psychedelic drugs. It covers science, medicine, history, advice, indications and contraindications, similarities and differences between different substances, and the influence that these experiences have on our cultures and religions. An essential book that continues and improves the great work "The Spirit Molecule" by the same author.

This book is simply amazing. It is a comprehensive and concise work on psychedelics. As someone completely new to psychedelics, this book has given all the important information I need and a starting point for more in depth research on psychedelics.I usually have problems reading as my attention span is very short, but overall this is very easy to read. Also, I love the colors of the paperback 😅.
