Superbly Researched; Masterfully Written!
Chris Willis has once again added to his immense contributions to pro football research and recognition. Skillfully merging his own insightful research, along with personal records provided by the Bronko Nagurski family, Willis accurately captures both the personality and determination of Nagurski. Previously unpublished correspondence between Nagurski and George Halas, owner of the Chicago Bears, is shared and unveils the realities of pro football finances in the 1930s...which eventually helped push Nagurski to drop football in favor of professional wrestling. In the end, we feel that we know Nagurski, his athletic capabilities and challenges, and clearly understand what was most important to him underneath all of his football recognition: his family. An exceptional biography written by a master of the genre...

....his life before, during and after football ....
Mr. Chris Willis hits the bullseye again, as he adds to his impressive library with this well written, in-depth narrative on the life of Bronko Nagurski. Willis details his commitment to family, and his teammates, and of course his legendary skills on the gridiron. Favorite chapter is Returning to the Bears in '43, and having watched film of him during a season that again had Chicago playing for a championship. Highly recommend the book whether you are a Bears fan or not.
