This cookie scoop is poorly made, it lasted for 2 uses and then it stopped working.

Purchased this last year mainly for the purpose of dividing up cupcake batter. I chose this style because I have a smaller scooper in the same design (purchased from Big Chain Store) which is sturdy and I thought this might be the same quality. Well, almost. It was a great buy until it came apart. Twice. I compared this to the smaller scooper and the difference was the notches on the cog go all around, this one does not. Also, the tail end of the scraper rod is short and makes it easy for the whole thing to slip out of the hole; the cog also doesn't sit flush on the bottom. 1/8" more of metal on the end of the scraper rod and trunnion could have made this perfect, IMHO.PROS: a large, decent size scooper. This is metal. It has a good substantial weight to it.CONS: The notches on the cog at the bottom do not go all the way around. Tail end of scraper rod is short and slips out causing the whole thing to come apart. It's a pain to almost impossible to put this thing back to together properly. I say "properly" because you want the first tooth to be in the first notch of the cog, so the scraper is in line with the lip of the bowl. Otherwise, your scraper sits in the middle and it won't get all the food out.

I purchase my 2nd ice cream cookie dough scooper July, 2019 as an extra scooper for baking cookies . It was never used and sill in the box until last week. On first use, the gears stuck and wouldn't release the cookie dough. The handle eventually separated. I was highly disappointed in the performance of this identical scooper to what I had purchase in 2018. I needed this for my cookie business. I believe I just got a defective scooper, but since I had not used it to observe the performance it was well past time for a return. I am very. happy with the first one purchased and use it very often and have had no problems with it for 2 years. I will reorder because I need a good sturdy scooper.

It didn't last very long.
