Rockler Heavy Duty Quick Release
After a thorough search of what is available, I think this is the best for the money. It is well built and will handle what ever job you have for it. The only complaint is the instructions are poorly written. The pictures on the box give you better information about instillation than the document. Take your time you will not be disappointed.

Terrible quick release mechanism, poor instructions and support.
Terrible quality and very poor instructions. The quick release mechanism is terrible. Not the best customer support.I had to use the instructions from a competitor's to figure out the installation. It is a sturdy vise but the quick release mechanism is poor. I would have bought a Eclipse or a Veritas.

Great, great vise. Perfect for beginners, but installation requires planning and skill.
This vise met my needs perfectly: good price, light, good quality. Though it isn't as bulky as the behemoths at the local Woodcraft store, it isn't flimsy either. Reviewers on the Rockler website have practically written essays on installing this vise, and I hope that I can contribute something to make the experience go more smoothly.First of all, the mistake that confounds most users is getting that bottom mount backwards. You have to take the vise apart to install it properly, and the vise face is easy to accidentally turn around because it looks symmetrical. But it is not. Flipping it will royally mess up the winding action and the quick release. I had a fifty-fifty chance, and just happened to get it right. It would be nice if it were engraved or painted in such a way that users could preserve the orientation. Like some others, I took a photograph of the vise before I disassembled it, but the black paint makes for lousy pictures that don't help when you are clamping the vise face to the underside if your bench. My advice: use a little nail polish or white-out to mark the front surface.Since I was mounting this to a hollow torsion-box style work bench (see One Project Closer or The Art Of Manliness for detailed instructions) I first fixed a 14x14x3/4 inch sheet of MDF on the underside of the bench to increase the thickness from 1/4 to 1 inch. Use a combination of countersunk #14 screws (to hold it in place) and Titebond III. After the Titebond dried overnight I clamped the vise face (check that orientation!) flush to the edge and screwed it in place with #14 screws.Next, I used parallel clamps to hold the wooden face in place over the edge of the bench as it would be when it was attached to the vise face, then pencil marked the wood face where the screw and two metal bars will slide through. I removed that wooden jaw face, clamped it to its mate, and drilled the three bore holes with a hand brace and a 3/4 auger bit. Don't use a spade bit, you will burn the wood. I then clamped the jaw face back in place and placed four countersunk screws to fix it to the bench. Now the only steps were to attach the wood face to the handle plate and to slide the screw assembly through the vise plate after attaching the quick release mechanism. This mechanism also has to be correctly oriented or it will not work. Again, I would pre-mark it before disassembliing the thing. You will find that the screw assembly and rods have a bit of an angle that requires pulling them apart so that they line up with the holes in the vise plate. The box instructions are helpful, but I would ignore the #12 screws and go with #14 screws or bolts instead. They fit well. The quick release works so well. Combined with a forgiving weight and quality construction, this vise is a great beginners bench vise.

Solid Vise for Wood Working
The instructions would have been much better is they came with some templates - one for the holes to mount the vice, one for the holes to drill for the vice jaws. Due to its weight, was difficult to hold in place, and the vice has to be taken apart to get the correct dimensions for the vice jaw holes. The construction is BEEFY and solid, works as advertised.

The one to get
Loving it works exactly as described. Really liking the quick release feature one turn an it’s free. Titans and holds really well. A Very well made product worth the money if you are building a bench or needing a vice for an order one this is the one to get

The quick release mechanism is problematic
Although the quick release mechanism is handy, I then spend the next few minutes, trying to get it to reengage and ultimately have to reach under my bench to hold the mechanism in place to get the vice to screw Close again.

A quick release vice at a fair price
Relativity easy to install, I found the instructions rather vague, therefore the 4 stars in "Easy to Install"Very sturdy. positive actionFirst thing to do after opening the box is to lubricate two steel guide rods - I did not, the next day there was a rust stain from my fingerprint - maybe living in Florida ha something to do with this....

I love this vise
I installed this vise yesterday. I’ve seen many reviews saying it was difficult to install the vise. I didn’t find it difficult at all. You just need to take good measurements for the holes for that the rods go through. I really like the quick release mechanism on the vise. Once you loosen the vise a little you can quickly pull it open and closed. It tightens well and holds things snugly.I still need to put some dog holes in the front face and my table and my capabilities will increase dramatically. It will definitely make working on projects much, much easier.I would highly recommend this vise.
