how do I find the model kohler shower faucet I have

I googled Kohler, found a number to call and spoke to the most useful customer service rep ever. She asked that I take a picture of my shower faucet and send it to her. She identified the model for me. BTW, I installed this replacement valve and it was a piece of cake. The only issue I ran into was installing the balancing valve upside down so the hot and cold were reversed (there are no markings to provide guidance). Easy fix but annoying.

Do these two units come with all necessary o-rings?

It does- there is only 1 I believe

Does this come with the two spring seal/seats? Can I buy just those somewher?

I remember it having a couple of seals. But they weren't spring seals. Maybe go to Lowes or Home Depot. I saw some seals there one time.

Very difficult to find compatiblity of parts. i have the devonshire shower assembly part # k-t397-4-cp . is this valve universal/fit my shower?

I can't say whether the part will fit your model. However, I emailed Kohler customer support, told them my model, and they told me what the correct part was. When I got it, it took less than 10 minutes to install. What helped was checking out beforehand a couple of YouTube videos that others had made. Then when I started, it was like I had done it before, thanks to the videos.
