What is the quality of the sheath and can it be changed to left handed?

You're bit gonna find a better quality sheath than what it come with, and it can be changed to left handed by undoing two bolts, switching it, and screwing it back!

How good is VG-1 at least in reference to the Cold Steel Master Hunter? I have an older model in SK5 that has performed really well. Not familiar with VG-1 yet hear it's a less expensive form of VG-10.

VG-1 (V Gold 1) isn't the same steel as VG-10 (V Gold 10). With a hardness of 58-61, VG-1 holds a good edge. It's a strong premium steel that won't disappoint. You'll get years of good performance out of the CS Master Hunter and at a good price point. Compare to the Fallkniven F1 in 3G laminate steel.

Is this knife flat grind or hollow grind?

Flat ground. No hollow grind at all. Tapers to the edge. Great knife!

Is it made in USA? thanks

no it is made in Japan, BUT so are GREAT blades out of SEKI city. Think of it like a mini samurai sword, it is made in three layers of steels, those why its called San Mai III. This knife is just plain great for the money you can pay $300 for one just like it made in the USA but it is still going to be the same just different steels. It is also very thick and very sharp. I would think it could shave bone to slivers if you wanted to. Cold Steel makes great HIGH end knives and then ok lesser ones. That why I stick to their high end blades anything with the VG1 in my opinion is a bit harder than vg10 steel and holds an edge better too. It is what is in the middle layer of this blade. I hope i could help with any concerns you had about this knife.
