For bigger animals like rats, set the "trigger" towards the F, for smaller mice set it towards the S. The instructions on the packaging never mention this, had to go on YouTube to find out what those letters meant.Besides that, it got the job done. I mixed a combination of peanut butter and wet cat food (figured they were attracted to the food my cat left in her bowl) as bait, and I cut holes in random cardboard boxes big enough for a rat, but not my cat, placed the traps in those, and set them around my apartment.
