To what size can they open?

Mine open about 11 millimeters or about 3/8 of an inch

Imprecise jaw closure, and non-concentric pivot rivet punch, rule out Germany, U.S., Japan, Scandinavia, or Taiwan. Most likelythey are Chinese, Indian, or Pakistani. Good spring, and they are practical for my purposes. I closed jaws and filed with Swiss pattern file and then polished on 1050 RPM wheel w/600 grit rouge. Jaws appear to be heat treated and tempered, so go slow on the polishing wheel. Good grip. Price was right. ' Would rather have precision hand tools, but couldn't find any other offering. Have you tried Travers Tool?

Could someone give me the measurement of the “clamping” portion alone? Thanks in advance!

The measurement in length of the clamp is 1 inch.
