Super easy to peel and cut an apple
I like this style of peeler a lot. So convenient when making anything with apples. I bought this to replace my previous one which used a suction cup to hold it on the counter. I couldn’t stand how with the old one the suction was the only thing securing it to the counter so if it met any resistance it would easily release and the whole thing bang over on the counter. The clamp style of this peeler fixes that issue. My only complaint and the reason I gave it 4 stars (really would be more like 4.5 stars) is that if you unwind the clamp too far the protective pad comes off very easily and it’s difficult to put back on without a snap ring tool.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Before I write my review of this let me say that I have owned 2 of these apple peeler/corer/slices before this one. I been using them for years and I'm well acquainted as to how they should work and how adjustments should be made. I would have chosen give this this product NO STARS if it was possible. Here's my review. This is so cheaply made that the list of what is wrong with it is long. 1. There is only one rubber foot on the bottom, this does not provide protection to the counter top on the end closest to the clamp. The metal of the peeler rests directly on your counter top at the handle end of the peeler 2. Because there is only one rubber foot there is not stabilization of the peeler and there is to much vibration in the entire peeler when using the handle. it is impossible to get it tight enough to limit the amount of vibration because of the difference in height between the one rubber foot and the end without it. 3. It gouges the apple when peeling and no amount of adjustment to the peeler helps on either the peeler blade itself or the arm of the peeler with the spring. 4. It does not core the apple completely. I had half of the apples I did stop half way through the slicing/coring process and could not get the apple the rest of the way through causing more work in having to try and salvage the remaining apple. 5. The apple slices were inconsistent in thickness from beginning to the end of one apple on the ones I was able to get to peel/slice/core. Some slices were excessively thick, others were paper thin and disintegrated completely when handled regardless of care in handling them. This caused portions of the finished product to be under cooked in spots and over cooked in other spots. If you have never owned of these previously you would have nothing to compare it to and may think that this is how they work. Not so! Do not waste your money on this product. I will be contacting Amazon to arrange a refund. I am so disgusted with the poor quality that I do not want a replacement for it but a full refund instead.

Not as well made as their old products.
I've had a Norpro Apple Mate 1 for close to 20 years. It's had hard use during that time as we have 4 dwarf apple trees that produce more apples than we can use. As a result, I make tons of applesauce and put it in the freezer and give it away all through the holidays. That little Apple Mate 1 is a great workhorse for processing 30 apples at a crack. This year one of the 3 prongs on the fork part broke off so I went looking for a replacement. I did find an Apple Mate 3 but it didn't work as well. So I was ecstatic when I found the Apple Mate 1 at Amazon. However, the new Apple Mate 1 is smaller and lighter than my old one and in my opinion doesn't quite measure up. For some reason it wouldn't consistently peel the apples. We tried re-seating the blade and it works sporadically. The swivel on the blade arm doesn't have the range of rotation as my old one. I noticed that Norpro didn't even stamp their name on this product like they did with the old one. Anyway, we were able to replace the broken prong arm shaft on my old one with the new one so my old Apple Mate 1 is back in business. I am keeping the new one and will use it for parts for my old one. That's why only 3 stars.

I'm never hand peeling apples again..
This corer, peeler, and slicer saves you about a HALF HOUR depending on many apples you are using and how fast you can hand peel them. It removes about 90 to 100% of the skin, depending on the shape of the apple. Even if you leave a little it is easy to remove by hand and a little apple skin never hurt us, this is where all the nutrients are anyway. The blade is sharp enough and it freely rotates, which is nice about this item as opposed to others that don't have the freely rotating blade. You can adjust the blade to peel more of the apple if you want. The apples are sliced thin enough for an apple pie or crisp. I would recommend the clamp because the vacuum base does seem to be stable enough. Also the blades can't be replaced after you make too many apple pies.Peeling potatoes works well too. If I could I would give this 4.5 instead of 5 stars because if the apples are soft or misshapen then the device doesn't work as well and the clamp doesn't fit all counter tops, but most. Highly recommend.

Once it was adjusted it works great.
I really like the clamp instead of suction. We buy a case of apples every fall. This works great to prep them.

This beats the suction
I had a suction one for years. It never stuck for longer than a second. I finally broke down and decided to get the one I should have gotten years ago. I have apples enough to make 2 batches of apple butter! Yum! For gifts this Holiday!

cheaply made
A friend loaned us this exact apple, corer, peeler, he had from back in the day. Worked great so went looking for the same one. Found this one, same name,----definitely NOT the same. Cheaply made and quite smaller. The thing does not tighten when we try to screw it on the counter. Not happy with this product. Dont know why they would have changed anything and call it the same model when it clearly is not!! they just dont make things like they used to. I think greed has a lot to do with it!
