Alfred Sisley: Impressionist Master

Great book about a great artist.

I attend a lot of art exhibits. This is one of the best I've viewed. It took seven years for the curators to arrange. The images are high quality, with 16 double-page spread details. It covers Sisley's whole career. He stuck to his style and subjects throughout his career. This is is the best book on Sisley I know.

I suggest you do not take any notice about the 1 star comment. I questioned whether I should buy the book from this comment but nevertheless ignored it and it has just arrived. It was printed in 2016 with a publication date of 2017 - it says so on the back page! The book was published for exhibitions in America during 2017. The previous reviewer must have been in Denmark at the time! The book itself is perhaps the best on the market on Sisley. Almost 200 pages with excellent reproductions of his paintings. It is in a landscape format, sensible for landscape paintings, and many detailed reproductions to show the brushwork - many spread across the 2 pages. There is a full chronology of his life with some detailed articles. OK it's not cheap but well worth it if one wants a comprehensive and detailed book on the lesser known, and lesser published, Impressionist..
