Splendid way to introduce my grandkids to mindfulness
The cards are rather small, but beautifully illustrated without any distractions. There are almost limitless ways to use some or even all cards. My grandson is very very hyperactive and his mom and his pediatrician are working on a timetable for medication. I love my grandson very much and he’s a very kind, loving little boy but when he is hyper, he’s all over the place, unable to finish whatever he started. Frankly, his future terrifies me!See, while I was never hyper as a kid, I can somewhat relate to him as the fear & terror I was raised with resonates with me even today. Several years ago I was still trying to discover many “why’s” I came across meditation, mantras, mindfulness and started my journey to counter fear and shame. It worked and saved my life!So now I’m teaching my grandson to find his center and keep calm by using breathing techniques and this deck of cards. Eventually he will be able to do this on his own and choose the cards he feels drawn to at certain times. This is not an indoctrination to a religion but a way to find peace and calmness in difficult times. Most religions have practices of devotion, insight, calmness to clear the mind and these cards can be well incorporated. If you like to give your child a key to a better life, this is it and I highly recommend it with all my heart.Update!I started to use this deck with my grandson and let him select the cards he wanted to use first. We did 1/2 of the deck without fidgeting, distractions. After we got done I asked him how he felt and he smiled at me and said “Happy”! That afternoon he hadn’t taken his meds but he seemed grounded and calm. The balance of the cards will be done the next day and afterwards we will find fun ways to make this deck a way to feel happy & content!Thank you to the illustrator & creator of this set!!
