Michael Jackson & Prince ~ Legends Forever
As the author of Defending A King ~ His Life & Legacy about the incomparable Michael Jackson, I was awed by the similarities between the two greatest entertainers of our times, Michael Jackson and Prince. These two musical geniuses were born in the same year [1958], grew up in the Midwest and absorbed its values, and shared the same religion across many years – Jehovah's Witnesses. Michael and Prince were very spiritual, deep thinkers, Bible readers, and zealous seekers of truth and peace. Each was married and divorced twice. Both men deservedly became global icons and shared a deep passion for their unique brand of music as well as outstanding artistic versatility, unlimited talent, and perfectionism in all of their endeavors. Michael and Prince struggled to maintain private lives away from the spotlight and paparazzi, and they were both surprisingly soft-spoken, shy, and humble. The extent of their humanitarianism and philanthropy has become known only after their untimely, tragic, mysterious, and sudden deaths. As musical and fashion icons who both thought and worked “outside of the box,” they had to fight their way through a white man's industry in the early years of systemic discrimination against black entertainers and the music industry conglomerates shamefully exploiting them. Ultimately both prevailed and reached the pinnacle of success in musical freedom, innovation, financial rewards, and an astounding reach of acclaim and fame.Read both books and be surprised, delighted, and enlightened! RIP, Michael and Prince. You will be remembered and honored forever.

Love this book
I have read 3 different books on Prince's music in quick succession and this one was the best even for novice like me. I did not, unfortunately, followed his music carrier until his death. Since then I did a lot of research and catching up and I got hooked on music of this genius. This book definitely helped me to understand his musical and partially private journey through life. I would highly recommend this book.

Discology-Idex of Work
4 me this book is not so much a biography. It is more a meticulously researched and review of released and unreleased music. The author thoroughly studied Prince's musical career. I give him credit, he did an excellent job. My disappointment comes from the fact that this book is categorized as a biography. It does not give much if any information on Prince's life or him as a person, icon or legend. Having said that his life was his music, so in a sense u do get a glimpse into who he was. The book does interview people who worked with him and knew him personally, but they do not offer a true insight of who he really was (or what it was like 2 know him). I imagine a book on Prince's personal life would be difficult to write being that he was extremely private. In conclusion if u r looking 2 read about his extensive musical career, this book is the encyclopedia 4 u. If u want 2 read about Prince's life I'd go else where. More 4 serious/hardcore Prince fans.
