Not was I was looking for.
Did not like product not what I was expecting, when setting up device, random numbers appear without me touching it or putting anything on it.

Used to work
This worked fine for a while and was easy to use. But now, after about a year of use, it seems to be stuck in kcal units and I have to wiggle and jiggle to get it to switch to grams.

Accurate Measure Scale But Very Sensitive Buttons Leads To Illuminated Screen Freak Outs Or Freezing
I found many positives, as well as some negatives for the SmartHeart Digital Kitchen Food Scale. The piece visually is very attractive and has a sleek look to it. Once I pulled the plastic tabs to activate the button batteries, the scale's screen lit immediately with an illuminated blue screen. The numbers and written text size are clear and easy to read. The scale can weigh in ounces, pounds, milliliters, and grams. To change between the weights, you simply press the unit button. To tare the scale, you just need to press the power/tare button and presto you are good to go. I used the scale to weigh all the ingredients I needed to make potato rolls. It weighed every ingredient accurately and I found myself with a delicious and successful pan of rolls. But with all positives, I also found correlating negative points to consider. I was disappointed to find that the scale only uses button batteries. I think it would have been exponentially easier if it ran on AA or even AAA batteries. When the time arrives that I need to replace the batteries, I will need to either make a special trip to the store or place a special order for these batteries as I don't normally keep button batteries on hand. I found this scale very finicky. When moving the scale either by carrying or pushing it slightly on the counter, the screen would immediately illuminate and flash all kinds of random numbers and words. It was like it was shorting out. I also did not like that every time I turned it on, it would randomly start attempting to calculate the KCALORIE/CARB or the buttons would either respond at the slightest touch and change units instantly or the buttons would not respond at all requiring me to turn off the unit and start again. There were even instances where I tried to turn the scale off and it would not respond until I physically took the batteries out completely. This was a pain the behind. The blue light on the screen would also randomly turn itself on and off with no rhyme or reason. As accurate as this scale is, I found it too finicky and sensitive for my liking.

lots of weighing options, but best for grams
I did not get this for the calorie count, but for cooking. I bake a lot and prefer to weigh rather than measure with cups. I always have a backup scale on hand in case my main one breaks. This is my backup.I pulled out the battery protectors and it turned on. It automatically tared, but I hit the tare button anyway out of habit. I weighed several things, both in ounces and grams, on my much more expensive scale and this one. This matched the other scale at low weights, but was slightly different at things over a pound. I don't know which scale is correct and the differences were not statistically significant.Switching from ounces to grams on this is as easy as hitting a button on the face. But it seemed like it wound up on kcals and other things I didn't want. My other scale requires turning over to switch, so this is better. It is hard/impossible to read the weight when using a large bowl. The scale is flat, so there is no space between the bowl/cutting board/whatever and the reading. This is a negative for me, but would not be a problem for someone who uses small containers.I don't like that the ounces are truly just ounces. It does not switch to pounds and ounces. So while this read 31.5 ounces, my other scale read the much easier 1 lb 15.8 ounces (as I said they were slightly different). I think this would be a real pain when wanting heavier amounts. We didn't cover counting by 16s when I was in school. I may be able to figure out how many ounces there are in a few pounds, but my recipe calling for 8 pounds of apples would require me pulling out a paper and pencil or my phone to find out how many ounces that is. This is the biggest drawback for me. I use grams the majority of times, but pounds enough that this would make me keep walking if I saw it in the store. The batteries that came with it went to "lo" after two weighings. I was able to get it to read another half dozen things by turning it off for a while, but they definitely need replacing right away. Two 2032s.

Digital kitchen scale. 100% accuracy is questionable but close.
This scale looks really nice. Sleek and professional looking. Turning it on it has a nice blue backlight. Easy to read. It's fairly simple to use, but I do recommend keeping the instructions handy as there are a lot of options. One thing that is rather annoying is to change the item mode, you have to push the button repeatedly until it cycles to the one you want. It looks like you would just push the picture and it would go to the chosen option. You can change the mode to grams, ounces, etc. It has calorie and carbohydrate amounts that coincide with what you're weighing (eggs, milk, flour, etc.) I guess if you are hard-core dieting that would be useful but I am not going to use that function. I question the complete accuracy. I did a quick test by zeroing out the container weight then I used a pump dispenser that likely would give the same amount each time. First pump the scale read .30 oz. Second pump it read .55 oz. Third pump it measured .89 oz. I'm not convinced that the tiny indescrepancy will make a life changing difference, but I was surprised that it wasn't completely accurate. I repeated the "experiment" 3 different times with the same result each time so it wasn't user error. I will only use the scale for baking purposes so it won't really be an issue. Price is about average. Batteries are pre-installed and you just have to pull the protective tabs out. There's a little tray that pulls out to replace the batteries. Looks pretty simple and straightforward. It has little non-slip feet that keep it securely in place during use.
