I needed a laser level because I was installing box trim on the wall in one of our rooms. This tool made it so easy I ended up installing box trim in two other rooms as well. Level has worked flawlessly. I have no idea the battery life, but I have left it on for HOURS while doing these projects -- once I had it setup exactly how I needed it I didn't want to mess with it. I highly recommend this level.
