Love this unit. Allows me to completely disconnect from the internet at night or when not using my PC. Easy connect/disconnect with no drop in speed over a simple non-switched ethernet cable. Liked it so much I bought another one for my son's PC.

Works great and very easy to set up.

Here's the backstory...🔵 I have a Google Chromecast TV dongle set up on main 55" TV.🔵 I have an ethernet (cat 6) going from router to Chromecast's USB-C single input.🔵 The Chromecast can do Ethernet or WI-FI. But, it can not connect to wi-fi with the ethernet physically connected.🔵 Cox goes down a few times a week. When that happens I switch to wifi hotspot from my phone.🔵 Before the purchase, I had to do old-school & reach behind the TV, without bumping any of my other connections, and disconnect the cat6 to enable wifi in the dongle.🔵 I wanted an easier way to disconnect since retired people can be lazy now, if they want.🔵 It depended on the dongle software if this idea will work. If it just depends on a signal, then my idea will work; but, if it depends on the physical connection being severed it won't.TEST RESULTS:🔵 Unit works fine with my cat6 & Google Chromecast TV. Did a speedtest ping before & after install and results were negligible. 👍🔵 I hooked it up, then tested to see if I could tell of any degradation of signal & whether the Google Chromecast TV would allow a Wi-Fi connection with your switch OFF.🔵 I then read the instructions & took note of the direction to hook up the in-line switch. I checked and I had it backwards to the instructions so I rewired. Surprisingly, the results were almost the same.

I really wish it didn't have a now defunct apple connector. I have more micro usb devices than apple. And swapping out the apple lightning connector for a micro usb would have been grand and made this a really nice item. It's still handy, but the cable was doomed from the get go for overall usefulness with a ¼ of it connectors being useless currently or unsupported in the near future.

If your ethernet is switched off, you know that no remote user is accessing your system, and that no malware is broadcasting out when the machine is asleep.Great to have in this age of surveillance and the Shadowgate (see the documentary).This product works reliably and is built solid.I am using the optional adapter in-line,that connects two cables instead of one,and my plugs occasionally slip under tension in it so thatthe ethernet disconnects.This may be a function of my plugs being small.Putting a thin layer of plumber's tape around the plugs(but not over the metal connectors) solves this.Enjoy this unique product.

It works for a short period... 2 months, then won't work consistently. It has a faulty switch or something.

I bought 2, been using them for about a couple weeks now and so far, they are working great.
