Deuce Delaney

Loses some umph as it goes along but overall a good read

I absolutely LOVED Deuce Delaney, I’m 89 yrs old and I have tonsof mysteries and comingof age books on my kindle…Maybe because I was an English major yrs ago that I love to read and your book was not only exciting but I felt so bad for Deuce always in hot water. He was naughty but lovable. I felt there were several times he could have gone to police but it wouldn’t have been so exciting. I found his parents were very misunderstanding and too unbelieving. I’m going for your other books right now. Keep it up.Carol Breidenbach

WOW! Mind blown!This is a story that makes you scratch your head wondering how it is all going to play out. Sweet, thirteen-year-old Deuce is always in trouble. His antics will make you laugh or frustrate you to no end. You just want him to be a well-behaved boy, but this is a challenge for him. He has lied so much, that when he tells the truth, nobody will believe him.The ending is absolutely phenomenal!A beautifully written book that is hard to put down!I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be taken on an entertaining and nail-biting journey.Kudos to you, Michael Murray, for writing an amazing and wonderful book!

I nabbed this from Amazon, mistakenly thinking that it was a horror story by the cover. About a quarter of the way in, I gave up on that notion, but found that the coming-of-age first person narrative was pulling me right along. Deuce is a champion of poor decisions and you find yourself wanting to smack him at times for some of these antics. However, his heart is as big as his judgement is flawed, and you'll find yourself pulling for him. The early '60s setting fits the story well, also.

This was not anything like I thought it was going to be. Slow to start, but then I couldn't put it down. The ending was a great twist. Highly recommend.
