I love that these are not toxic! I am highly sensitive to chemicals. I will say the smell of the lavender sealer is very strong for some time, it has disappeared after a few weeks, works great!

Good quality oils, scent is strong but I find it pleasant. My father hates the scent and finds it overwhelming, so to each their own. I like to paint outside and I've noticed the bees also like the scent of the lavender based oils particularly. I didn't mind they didn't bother me but if you're allergic to bees might be something to keep in mind. I found this to be a great way to try out different thinning agents and what not, I only wish they included information on why someone would one oil over the other. Such as why use the fat and lean instead of the walnut and linseed.

Best oil paint mixers money can buy. It's hard to beat the non toxic spike lavender, which replaces the most toxic part of oil painting-your solvents. I've tried a lot of different mixers, all the standards, Gamblin products were my go to, but I'll never use any other after using this product a while. High marks in every category. No matter your preference, fast dry, slow dry, runny, non runny, gloss, matte this set contains everything you could possibly need. Their solvent replacement actually smells really good too. Each one, walnut oil, flax oil, the fat & lean mix, etc. are the highest level of quality. If you're serious about your oil paint, you should try this. If your new to oil paint you may not appreciate it, but it really is a step above everything else I've tried. The biggest downside is it's pricey stuff, but as they say you get what you pay for.

These items are pricey sold separate so it's nice to have this sampler back to try out things before you select a larger container!

I bought this after it being on my wish list forever. But I should have listened to earlier reviews. Overwhelming smell of lavender (and this from someone who uses lavender essential oils all the time). If I had smelled it in the store, I would have never even considered purchasing the set. That said- it does deserve 3 (or 3.5) stars because the materials are functional and the soap is pleasant enough. But they’ll still not be used. (Note- I use them in a ventilated art studio)

So, the box came mangled, torn and smashed, and smelling strongly of lavender. I feared bottles had broken. BUT... All inside was safe and well. Yay!Very glad I took the advice to get this variety of samples 'cuz they are so very useful, plus I found out that the potent scent of the Lavender Brush Cleaner, plus the Spike Oil was too much for me. Just having these bottle, lids screwed closed, in the same room for a period of time was making me nauseous, lips tingling and then numb. So, the fix - store bottles in an air tight bin, decant with eye dropper just what I need as I need it, switch to Citrus Brush Cleaner (I am less reactive to this) kept in air tight solvent metal container. Scentless solvents are worse for me 'cuz if I can't gage by smell, its hard to judge how much particulate is in my environment until I feel really sick. Safe studio practices are very important for me especially as its winter here and I am working from home. This is the brand I will be using from now on.

I love these, i love oil painting and I can’t stand the smell of the classical mediums and turpentine etc, great little kit to experiment with mediums for beginners, and the lavender scent is lovely and very light, so no headaches. Will buy the whole bottles of each when i’m finished with these.
