Cover yourself!
I'm not criticising the content of this book but I was very disappointed when it arrived as the cover is jusr barely thicker than the pages. It is very flimsy and whne they say 'paperback' they truly mean paper. For such a thick book at this price, I think this is shoddy. I'm now reading the original three volumes on very good condition second hand books. The paperbacks are much better and you can also get hardbacks - very cheap.

Great read
The book is as promised, it literally goes year by year describing all the relevant events that happened all around the world. Great read and it accomplishes what it promises.

Love it, and now I also love Billy Joel! (but 20 pages missing)
Really one of the best history books I've read - love the way he narrates date by date and moves seamlessly between different events in different continents, AND I finally know what Billy Joel was talking about in "We Didn't start The Fire" (my new favourite song, after reading this book!). Midway through I noticed that there were 20 pages missing (circa 360-380) so check your copy as soon as you get it.

As with all these concise histories there's always things that I feel I would have liked more/less detail on but this is pretty much the best that I've come across.
