Pinewood Pro PRO Axle Puller and Inserter | 2-in-1 Derby Speed Tool

I love this tool. It's my second one . . . I bunged up the first one after probably ten years. I have a mobile workshop (pinewoodderbyworkshop.com) helping several hundred people a year build their cars. I use this tool every session when someone's got an axle cocked crooked in a really dense block of wood. It doesn't exacerbate the problem; it just helps you pull the axle and reset it. It saves your fingers; it saves your car. My first one did not have the recess for setting axles, so I'm looking forward to trying that feature out. This is a simple, elegant, useful tool. It lives in my apron, not in the tool box. It's really worth your investment.

This is a well built tool and will last. It works as intended but is what some call a uni-tasker. It does one thing very well. I paired it with an alignment tool. I used it to do the job precisely and not to damage the cars before the race. I could use hammers and pliers or thumbs and fingernails but that can cause axles to be out of alignment. Do you need it to have a great car, the answer is no, but it is useful but it is not imperative. If I had to choose this tool or an alignment tool, I would go with the alignment tool.

Much better at pulling the axle than inserting it. If there were something to put between your palm and the cross bar it might be a 5 star item. If you are using a spacer/guide tool behind the wheel the tool further loses it's value for inserting, because the slot is too wide and the wheel/axle would end up too far out. This tool works great for installing and removing the axles on the pinewood derby cars. My grandson and I have been making cars in different configurations to find out what makes a fast car and ended up unintentionally bending axles while removing them from the cars until we got this tool. Now we can remove the axles and they come out straight so that we can reuse them on a different car.

Works good for putting axles in and taking them off.

Last year I tore up some wood trying to get axels in and out. This tool is perfect. The pushing indent piece works great and lets you determine the force being use, and pulling the axel out is easy also. Glad I have it. Other dads at our Pinewood Derby were using it and really impressed.

Love the fact I can hammer and pull with same tool.

This is a good quality tool with good features and I’m glad to have it in my toolbox. Would give five stars if it was a bit larger. Its small size makes it a bit difficult to use for large hands like mine. The whole tool is mirror finish which makes it a bit slippery for me. Even so, it is a must-have tool.

I liked that the product arrived in a timely fashion. I have not used it yet put I know that it will do the job.

It bent after about a hundred uses, but my God was a useful. Still works but eventually it will give out after a couple of years and 30 to 40 cars a year
