PUMP HOSE MUST BE UPGRADED/REPLACED
This Fill-Rite fuel pump works as well as predicted. It is noisy, sounding under stress, yet does the job as expected. There is no accounting for the "gallon's per minute" . For me, electrical hookup was woefully undersized. I upgraded to 8GA copper, three lead cord, from "Surplus Marine". Appropriate measures must be made for a fused direct battery hookup. The bad news is the pump hose running to the pump handle has prematurely deteriorated.. The pictures should be self-explanatory. In short, if there is a cheaper grade hose for the purpose of transferring fuel, I haven't found it! It has never proved itself as pliable, rather stiff, which is why swivel joints were installed on each end. Considering the cost of the whole unit, this was unexpected.A proper fix involved going to our local "Central Hydraulics" for a commercial grade hose. I later found that "Tractor Supply" had much better fuel hose replacements for a little less money.George G. FriesDaytona Beach, FL 32117

Wire is too short
As others have mentioned, the hose kinks easily and seems to be fairly cheap. My problem was the heavy gauge wire to the battery was about a foot too short. You'd think for this money they'd give you the adequate length of wire. I rerouted it every which way but couldn't get it to meet the battery. The pump is on the right side and my battery was on the left. If the pump and battery where on the same side, it would fit, but my transfer tank only allowed for a right side pump. The instructions are horrendous as it does not include instructions for where the case ground is located (I found it by looking around the pump) and how to assemble the nozzle cup. It also does not explain what the arm was used for around the nozzle - but I figured it out - its a a way to lock the nozzle to the pump.

If the pump doesn't prime fuel CHECK 12 VOLT POLARITY!
Purchased for 275 gallon off road diesel tank. Assembled and wired Red to + and Black to - as instructions state. Pump would run but not prime fuel. Tank diesel level is 2-3" below pump and pickup tube is all the way down with 10" clearance to bottom of tank. Placing my hand over the output I noticed there was suction, NOT PRESSURE! Motor winding leads to junction box are installed backwards (Black + and Red -). as soon as I reversed the leads the pump ran strong. Also if you add a fuel filter on the output make sure you install it in the correct flow direction. there should be an arrow or label (input/output) on it for proper installation. As for quality, the pump is definitely a solid metal unit, Loud when running but works great once it works. I see the Flow-Rite emblem is affixed to the metal casting and not casted in the metal which leads me to believe the parts used are generic and branded after the manufacturing. Turning the bolts on the housing for mounting or opening the pump housing will easily strip off the paint. They definitely need to up their game on paint protecting from rust! The hose supplied is 14', plenty long to fuel nearby my tank but the quality is not what I expected. The hose can kink or easily be crushed - nothing like what you see in a gas station. I will use it for now but will be replacing it with a more solid reliable hose. The Artic handle is nice but know the auto fill lever that has two points of trigger flow like the gas station (slow fill and full open fill) will not engage full flow auto filling until the handle has pressure. It will latch onto the second slow fill point only out of the box. I assume this is normal. I almost returned it as defective until I realized it needs to be pressurized to fully function.Last, I called the 1800 number in the manual to figure out what was going wrong with the priming, sat on hold in Queue for over an hour, pressed 2 to keep my place in the call and get a callback when the next rep is available, Two days later.. STILL no call back. Called in again and it says I am still in Queue. GOOD GRIEF Hope you do not need assistance or anything by calling into them - Just glad I figured my pump issue out.If all these conditions with priming, Horrible paint, Cheap Hose, and no support assistance, weren't the issue - I would of given this a 4 since it has the "Appearance" of a quality built unit. Especially at the near $500. price point.

Pricey but worth it.
This pump is a work horse, it will pump gasoline faster than any gas station pump. The only thing to be aware of is make sure the voltage is 12+ dc from a good source or the pump will not start. I used heavy 4 gauge jumper cable wire for the hook up. First time I moved 14 gallons of gasoline in less than a minute. Beats hand cranking and I didn't spill any. Be sure to install a good filter because this pump will move sediment along with your fuel. I installed a Golden Rod filter with a see through bowl. The bowl allows you to see the fuel moving and is small enough to drain without wasting too much fuel. Make sure to lubricate the rubber gasket and wipe it dry after each use. The filter gasket supplied with the filter will easily turn gummy and seize the plastic bowl making disassembly difficult possiblydamaging the filter system.

Good Pump
Good pump. pumps well. I pumped 500 gals thru over 100' of hose and pipe with numerous elbows and was still getting 4-6 GPM. I imagine with a short hose and filter you might get close to 10GPM. If you want more flow than that the 20GPM model is only $80 more. Use this one in my truck now for the transfer tank. and ordered a 1/2 hp 25GPM for the 100' system ..... but then I paid $600 for that pump. Pretty descent for a $240 pump. With all the pumps expect them to flow a little slower than the maximum rated capacity.

Good Quality
I use these pumps for my heavy equipment business to fuel my machines. I have used this model as well as the 20gpm model. They crap out in Canada's cold climate about every 5-7 years which is acceptable in my eye. This 15gpm is only available as a kit in my town and they want over $700 for the kit, when the pump dies, your pump tube, nozzle and hose are reusable. So save a ton of money and just buy the replacement pump from amazon and reuse your old hardware.

They've been good pumps in the past don't see why this one ...
These pumps are getting harder and harder to find in my neck of the woods. They are being discontinued for what I would say is a "cheaper" brand...but not sold for any cheaper so when I found it available on amazon...whoot whoot. They've been good pumps in the past don't see why this one wouldn't follow that trend.

Buy local
Better to get locally so its not a hassle for warranty when it dies. Didn't last long as I have 15 of these and the 1 I bought hear failed without much use.

Brand new and defect...
All the unit is new. The nozzle still leaking after shut off. Drop almost 250ml of fuel on the ground each use.
