Still the best...
OK, I used to have one of these yeeeeaaarrrss ago (don't ask and I won't hafta lie), but I've been out of the hobby for a number of years (tut!-tut! - don't ask.) and since I'm now officially allowed to have a second childhood I'm building the old Bridi Flipper from a set of plans I found online. I'm now at the point where I need something to hold the fuselage while I'm fitting things in, and this stand served me well in the past, so I bought another one.The %$#*& thing is I'm a packrat, and I finally decided to get rid of a lot of junk, so I had tossed out a bunch of stuff, and my old stand was part of it.(~* hoarder voice in my head*~ SEE! I TOLD YOU YOU'D NEED IT SOMEDAY!)Hey, I still have a Hi-start from when I built this glider from a kit! And if you know the Flipper, that'll give ya a hint of how long ago that was. Doubt it's still good, but it's scary I know EXACTLY where it is right this very second! (Excuse me while I call to see if the program "Hoarders" is still on and taking applicants.)The instruction say to lubricate the holes with vaseline to insert the poles, and I've read some comments saying they had problems getting the poles in, some said they'd sandpapered the holes to get them to fit, but I had no problem inserting them un-lubricated, they were snug but not enough I was worried about breaking it.However being unlubricated it would be very difficult to adjust the size, so I took it apart and did rub some vaseline, not a lot, just enough to make it slippery, inside the holes and on the ends of the poles. The poles slid right in easily, and it was easy, now, to slide the stands to whatever size I wanted. The styrofoam will retain most of the vaseline and keep it lubricated, so it's not messy on the poles themselves. Wipe the ends of the poles off after you push them through to get the vaseline off them, and it's good.Saw one post where the guy wished there was a way to tighten the pads to keep them in one position, and I think I can suggest something for that! The round head the pads fit on is 3/4" thick. Go to Wallyworld and get a 1/2" wide velcro strip from the sewing department. You'll need about 2 feet of it.There's a little molding strip along the surface of the heads of the stands, just a little ridge of foam from the mold seam, lightly sand it flat.Epoxy a 4 - 5" section of the loop part of the material around the head. Now epoxy about a 1/2" piece of the hook material inside the center of the pad where it contacts the round head. I say a 1/2" piece because too big a piece would make it really hard to get loose. With a small piece you can just roll the pad and it'll release. You just need it to stay in place, to not be able to roll. If it's still too loose for your need try adding another small piece of the hook material.Viola!Position the pads however you want them and they will stay there.

Nice, but considerably over priced
This stand is nice and does what you expect, but it's considerably over priced for EPO FOAM.

Difficult to insert the tubes without breaking the foam ends
It does the job and makes a solid stand once assembled. But...Putting it together is a real pain. The plastic tubes have to be slid in the mounting holes which are extremely tight. The sides are made of foam and will break easy if you're not careful inserting the tubes. The instructions say to coat the tubes in Vaseline for easier insertion but it's still difficult because of the fragile ends. Another poster said they sanded out the holes so the tubes fit firmly but much easier to adjust to different size models. I believe this would be much better than putting gooey Vaseline on them. Once assembled it is a very sturdy stand and the tilting model-rests move back and forth freely to adjust to the size of the model. In my case building a large Cherokee 180 from Great Planes the fuselage bottom is squared off so it has a tendency to tilt 45 deg. It would be nice if they included a threaded rod to tighten these model-rests in place.

Turns out it is a great fit and holds the ship steady and secure
I bought this for a wooden sip model and was not sure if it would fit. Turns out it is a great fit and holds the ship steady and secure. It sits high which allows for easy work. Assembly recommends greasing with a thin layer of vaseline. You will need more than that.I am very happy with this purchase!
