Amana Tool - 45814 Carbide Tipped Dovetail 14 Deg x 1" Dia x 1" 2 Shank

Using a Freud version of this bit for years. However, I've had some breakage issues lately. Very narrow necks snapping . Bought this as the image appeared as though the neck was thicker. Now that I've received and done a short run of drawers, here's what I found:- Neck is indeed a bit thicker, by 15-20%, hope it translates to greater longevity.- Immediately left me with the impression the bit was cutting cleaner, so sharpening/geometry of this bit appears superior.- I use a cnc jig and routine to cut dovetails. Used to spend quite a bit of time setting height to tighten joints. For some reason, this bit needed zero depth adjustment. Unique to my machine and methodology, but still a plus, if only for myself. All around, I'm glad I tried this one. At first blush, it appears to have all the advantages. While I own a ton of Freud bits and blades, switching to this one for the dovetails. It's simply optimal for my system.

Package the bit was in made bit look used. It was all taped up with a cancer warning label on it. Package was also dirty. When I pulled the bit out it appears ok the wax covering bit blade came off very easy and bit appears not to of been used but I still question it.

This tool got me one of the most satisfactory projects I ever done! It is amazing how you can get a very tight joint with this perfect tool!!Awesome tool. That's why I got two just in case!You can zoom on the picture to see the carving on the post and the tenon on the beams. Good job Amana tools!

This bit works great with my micro jig clamps. It was a great purchase for the money.

This bit has a longer shaft than most so it sits securely in the router when used with a dovetail jig.
