Good manual for humans
Large but thin book, good basic information. If Kindle came with a concise instruction manual, it should be this. I bought 3 -- one for my husband, one for myself, and the first one our paper-loving cat Jackson chewed and shredded. (He reads the newspaper the same way.)

I found this book useful, although not complete
The book carefully explains the basic functions of the e-reader. You may already know and understand some or all of those basic functions. The book does not explain all features, however. Nor does it claim to. There's a disclaimer that this book is not intended to be a complete user's manual. (I don't know if one even exists.)I wasn't sure whether to buy the paper version of the book or the e-book version. The e-book version was cheaper, but I thought the printed book might be useful, so I bought both. I wondered if it would be awkward to try to learn about the Kindle while reading the Kindle. Would I be off with a paper version by my side that I could refer to while exploring the Kindle?I need not have worried. The printed version didn't arrive until after I had finished reading the e-book version. I had no difficulty following Mr. Weber's instructions when reading the Kindle version, even though sometimes I had to navigate away from his instructions to complete them. On the other hand, the illustrations and pictures in the printed book are much larger and clear than they are on my Paperwhite, so I'm glad I have it, too. Your experience may be different than mine. The way "bookmarks" are handled is different in this version of the software than in my previous version, and I was pleased that Mr. Weber explained bookmarks to my satisfaction. On the other hand, there is a feature that allows you to enlarge graphs, diagrams, pictures, etc. If Mr. Weber discussed this at all, I didn't see it.It strikes me as odd that Amazon doesn't seem to have--much less supply with each device--a comprehensive user's manual for what is in my opinion a wonderfully versatile and useful product.

What version of Kindle does this book support?
I am throughly confused. The screens in the book don't match up with the screens on my Kindle Paperwhite. e.g. the manual shows a bookmark icon on one line and a g on the line above it. My Kindle screen shows neither. My Kindle Paperwhite was purchased in June 2013 and Amazon book publication date is March 2014.I called Kindle support and was told I did have the latest version of the Kindle Paperwhite but a newer HG version was going to be issued this month.Agent was not sure why the book screens and my screens did not match up. Considered: This book referred to the new 3G version coming out this month. This book referes to an older version of the Paperwhile. She could offer no suggestions on a manual that matched the screens that I see on my Kindle Paperwhite

Nice size so it's easily transportable, like to read it outdoors.
Like the size, quality, portability, paperwhite readability outdoors, durability.

Not the latest
Doesn't' explain no.index. A waste of money. The paperwork is great for reading but difficult to organize. Very hard to organize collections too

VERY HELPFUL
I received a Kindle Paperwhite as a gift. I did not know how to use it so I purchased this book. It has been a life saver. Taakes the frustration out of learning to negotiate the Kindle. I have even been able to help friends who have older Kindles with the knowledge I have gained from this book. I would recommend that you purchase it.

Major Changes To Kindle devices
Got my Kindle for Christmas. There was no manual to get me started. The paper white was so different from my old Kindle. I had a hard time the first couple days trying to figure out how to use it. Finally I got an offer to get my free owners manual. I got it and it was ok. More instructions were needed for using the keyboard as I don't have a advanced cell phone to learn how to switch from Caps, Numbers, Symbols, etc.

Useful book for the Paperwhite with no instructions!
I started reading it and using it. It does give a lot of good information but the book is very wordy in my opinion.

Absolutely great. So much easier than I thought to read with such a device as this. Very easy to use and buy books within a couple of seconds. And my bookcases have no more need to groan!

Four Stars
Pretty much everything I would expect from a book described as a User's Manual. Detailed, clear and informative.

Useful, but could be much better.
Having been forced to purchase a replacement Kindle for my old Kindle Keyboard version, I was disappointed by the lack of instructions included, hence the purchase of this book! I purchased the hardcopy version because personally I find manuals are easier refer to than online versions? The author clearly know his subject, but for my part it lacks clear detailed instructions for novices, inasmuch as the detail seem to be "all over the place" as opposed to being in any clear order, i.e. stating at the beginning and then leading up to the more complicated details. Overall the manual has and will be useful, but authors of such manuals have got to learn that folk purchase such books on the basis that they know very little about the particular subject, hence why we buy the manual in the first place. Otherwise the book is clearly printed and a useful size etc. so no complaints there.
