Magnetic Net Release

Thought this sounded like a good idea. Put in service and I have been fishing 7,8 days with it. Turns out it is a good idea. When I hook a fish, I reach behind me and pull. Easy enough. Then I reach behind me, and it clicks back up. Now the negative review part. The little plastic piece in the picture to hold it to your vest. Junk throw it away. I put a real clip on it. Then the piece that goes on your net, has a ring. That is also a bad idea. I bought some hog rings and squeezed those down on the net. Works great. So Tight Line Ent. Good idea, now put parts on that actually work. I like it, glad I bought it. You have to make it better but the parts are not that expensive so not that big of a deal.

This is one slick add on for your fly fishing vest. When I first unpacked it I was impressed with how strong the magnet was. Once I installed the magnet on the metal d ring of my vest tab with the supplied steel spit ring and installed the magnet on the net with the supplied zip tie around the net frame and through the steel split ring on the magnet I could see a issue with my installation. The split rings allowed the magnet to freely swivel making it very hard to attach the net to the vest. The magnet on the vest would swivel around and stick to the metal d ring while the magnet on the net would hang down not allowing it to connect to the magnet on the vest. Simple solution, I removed the steel split rings and attached one magnet directly to the d ring on my vest and the other one to the net frame. This locked the magnets in position for proper alignment. It was very easy to remove the net and reattach it to the magnet. It worked great and I fished for two hours in 39 degree water with no issue at all. Just wish I would have had to remove it to land a nice trout!!!

I took the one off my rain jacket and gave it to my daughter for her net and then had to buy another for my rain jacket. I think these are the best. Very strong magnet. I have dropped my forceps into a deep portion of the river before and used the strong magnet to retrieve them from the bottom of the river.Sometimes the magnet can be used to find a small size 24 midge pattern that has been dropped in the gravel of a parking lot.All I have to do is get my net within a few inches of the magnet hanging from my fishing vest and click, the two magnets find each other and then back to fishing. I really like these magnetic net releases.

I could see it working with a lot of nets but it's too small to fit mine.

I purchased this for my son for Christmas, It is exactly what he wanted, but I am not sure he has used it as of yet. shipping and receiving was great.

I was concerned that it would be difficult to re-attach the net to the magnet but that is easy to do. After a few tries you quickly learn where to position the net so the magnet can quickly find it. The magnet holds the net firmly in place until you need the net, then you just give the net a little pull and it is readily released from the magnet. By having the net lying on your back, the net is much less likely to get tangled up in brush. I recommend this item for trout fishermen.

This little magnet is exactly what I was looking for. I carry a larger than most net when I am steelheading and this keeps my net out of the way but in reach when I need it. I have been using it heavily for 3 months now and it has not failed me. When I first got it, I thought it had demagnetized only to realize that it was covered in iron based gravel. Once I cleared the pebbles, it was right as rain.
